ABOUT ME
I am an Australian living in Montreal, and I like to live with a sense of kindness, adventure, and solidarity. I am a community activist and I want to make this a better world. I love hearing and sharing stories about life and travels. For me, couch surfing is about sharing life and experience in a common spirit of curiosity and spontaneity.
After studying on exchange in England and babysitting in the French Alps, I moved to Montreal in Quebec, Canada, where I have lived for nine years and been involved doing community organising in my neighbourhood (Milton Parc), activist publishing (with Black Rose Books), homelessness intervention work, and some organic farming.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Travelling, meeting interesting people, learning of their stories and discovering beautiful places.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first couchsurfing experience so far was in Namur the capital of the French part of Belgium. We stayed with a wonderful man who worked as a gardener. His house was attached to a huge French mansion complete with big French gardens, with his house once upon a time being the 'slaves quarters' or stables. He loved the quiet of the countryside around his rural place, built a cool table out of scrap wooden pieces, had a three legged cat, cooked us a superb Indian dish and loved nature and gardens. He described working in a national park in the south of Spain, where his closest neighbours - although living half an hour away in this isolated area - were as generous and friendly as family.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Been at Stonehenge for the summer solstice. A magical experience where 21000 people stayed up all night dancing, singing, meeting eachother, sharing stories. And all around these ancient, mysterious stones in the middle of nowhere. At sunrise on this day, the sun rises in a very precise alignment with the stones and the druid ceremony that occurred then was very special and touching.
Meeting an Italian tour guide in St Peters Square in Rome - meeting him completely by chance. And then he invited me to watch performances at a theatre that was being occupied and autonomously run by the actors.
