About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Connection and understanding

ABOUT ME

I do my best to find where my joy meets the worlds need. I work as a video producer and instructor at a public access TV station. I love helping people to tell their stories. I used to be a school counselor, and still feel that I use those skills in my video work. I have two nephews, 6 and 9, and love to play and discover with them. I juggle almost weekly at the local farmer's market, and my sister is a farmer. My brother is a professor of philosophy of education. I'm grateful to be able to make frequent visits to NYC to see my girlfriend, Heba, who's studying urban design. I really care about making the world a kinder place for all people regardless of background, race, or sexual orientation. I believe we can all learn from each other, but we don't need to agree with each other all the time.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to find where my joy meets the world's need.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted one couch surfer, even though I'm only just now joining. I met him at a bicycle event in DC the same day I met Heba, who's done lots of surfing and hosting. He wasn't comfortable with the place he was staying, so I put him up. It was a great experience! He shared cool musical instruments and told me about his trip across the US by bike.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to it by Heba. Other than hosting one person at my old house, I'm totally new. It was really fun though! He taught me how to use a sleeping bag to help cook your rice. We also watched the transit of Venus together. He was biking across the country. I've also been to many couchsurfing centered events. At the most recent one I juggled fire at the campfire and enjoyed taking in everyone else's talents including opera singing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Juggled 6 balls--I need to be in the right mindset to nail it. Fallen in love.
I was in Italy when they won the world cup. Some of my friends are magicians, and they amaze me consistently!
Young people learning new things is amazing. I saw my nephew the day he was born. I made great water experiments with nephews using pools, dams, and canals, and the pond on the farm where they live. Life in general is pretty amazing to me!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach juggling. Less reliably I can teach how to make a whistle out of your hand. Videography and editing.
