Overview
About Me
I'm a freelance writer, red cross disaster service volunteer, occasional English teacher, and aspiring long distance biker. I'm also not saying I'm Batman, I'm just saying you've never seen us in the same room at the same time.
I will tall to you about literature, or movies, or whatever. I'll probably talk longer than I should. I'll buy you a drink to make up for it.
If you're in Minneapolis and want to get to know the place, I lived in the South Metro for 5 years and in the heart of downtown for another 5. I know it like the back of my hand. I cant host in the cities until June, butI'd love to show you around my city. There's an endless stream of festivals, concerts, and movie nights in the Minneapolis parks. If it's not below freezing, I'll take you around the local bike trails. Between the Greenway and the trails system I can get you anywhere in the Twin Cities by bike and also recommend some good trustworthy mechanics.
When I'm traveling, that's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. Someone that can point me towards off the beaten path local stuff and teach me something about their home. At the same time, I don't need my hosts to show me around and hold my hand. I would prefer someone that would like to have a decent conversation and show me around, but all I really need is a nice soft floor to sleep on that is reasonably far from any local carnivores, poisonous insects, and Nickelback fans.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I adore my city, and I can't stand knowing that people come to Minneapolis and spend 5 days at the Mall of America and then leave. I like to think I'll meet people here who feel the same way about their town.
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
I breathe books. My favorites are Bradbury, Gaiman, T.S. Elliot, Kingsolver, Coelho, Achebe, Asimov and I could keep going. Definitely lean towards more of the last century than the classics, though I am a huge Shakespeare fan. Always open to suggestions!
For music I grew up on classic rock and blues. I was born in Memphis and got fat off B.B. King and barbecue. My dad had me listening to Kansas, Styx, and Queen, while my Mom had me on The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Crosby, Stills and Nash (though never ever Young). I joined choir and got really into crooners for a while. Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. , Mel Torme, Dean Martin etc. Minneapolis got me hooked on Dylan and Prince, it being absolutely compulsory to love both of them there, and Im a huge fan of the local music out of the cities and the regions indie, rap and folk music scene. Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Doomtree, P.O.S, Dessa, are all favorites that you might have never heard of if you aren't from Minnesota but are definitely worth checking out. Few other favorites are Dawes, Mumford and Sons (I like the banjo so sue me), Benjamin Booker, Watzky, 21 Pilots,Walk the Moon, Kimbra, The Arctic Monkeys, and Mutemath.
I'm a movie junkie. I even love bad movies on account of them being hilariously awful. I could list forever so ill just put 3 to make it simple. Dan in Real Life, Back to the Future, and Inglorious Basterds.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sang solos in a touring choir at Notre Dame Cathedral and a wreath laying ceremony at Normandy beach.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a master dishwasher and grilled cheese cooking extraordinaire, and I can grade your English papers. Oh and I can totally run a dungeons and dragons game. Being a nerd in high school pays off.
