About Me

After growing up in Kansas City in the American Midwest, I'm having a blast working in Brussels. With waffles, chocolate, fries, and the best beer in the world what's there not to love? It's also very well located to travel all over Europe. After July I am moving to London to start a master's program, and I am looking forward to the new adventure ahead.

2013-14 I worked as an English teaching assistant in Mons, Belgium, and then I did something similar in Lille in the fall. I moved to Brussels in January 2015 to begin working in the administration of the same exchange program.

travel blog (sadly I haven't had a chance to update in a while): http://nathanihoff.wordpress.com/

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've hosted once and surfed three times. Each time it's been an incredible experience — it's amazing how there are such nice and interesting people in the world, and I'm exciting to meet more of them.

Interests

I love world-class museums, dive bars, weird new people, spontaneity, over-planning, all music, narrow unnamed streets, exotic food, peasant food, healthy food, gut-busting diet-killers, pointless debates, random stories, unending lists...

Music, Movies, and Books

It's cliché, but I really really love music. As a classically trained cellist, I do listen to a lot of orchestral, opera, and chamber music, but I really love any live music. Jazz, rock, "alternative" — you name it, I would love to go see it live.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode a camel in Morocco, floated on my back in the ocean in January on a trip to the Canary Islands, saw Obama's speech live in Brussels, got food poisoning from a English meat pie that was totally worth it, watched the sun rise over the Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood in Saint Petersburg, watched the sunset on a Finnish island
