About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit other countries/cultures and learn more about the different lifestyles and customs all around the world and to experience personal growth through the journey.

ABOUT ME

I am a student of geology seeking a degree at West Virginia University. I am eager to learn about other cultures and see more of this beautiful planet. I am easy going and easy to get along with. I enjoy the company of others and spending time together talking and eating and drinking. The simple pleasures of life. I also love spending time outdoors doing activities such as rock climbing, hiking, and skiing. I love meeting new people and hearing their story and hope to meet some interesting people through this organization.

PHILOSOPHY

We arent on this earth for too long so go out and try something new.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to host surfers in need of a place to stay and help to show them around. I also love to travel and would love to use couchsurfing next time I find myself abroad.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few surfers and have also stayed with a few hosts during my time in Ireland. I plan on making some trips in Europe now that I am living in Estonia and I hope I can meet some friendly folks who can show me around their town :)

Interests

Being outdoors in general and seeing the natural world. Hiking, rock climbing, and skiing are among my favourite outdoor activities. I enjoy going out for a night on the town or just hanging in with some company and talking or preparing some awesome food. I love trying new foods and am trying to learn to cook a bit, but I am definitely still learning! Just listening to music is one of my favourite past times, especially live music.

Music, Movies, and Books

Gladiator, Kill Bill, Fight Club, Dumb and Dumber, Avatar. I'm not the biggest bookworm in the world but I love the harry potter series. As for music I listen to just about everything. My favourite genre at the moment is mainly bluegrass/folk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things that I have done is working as an adventure leader with the Organisation called Adventure West Virginia. This is an orientation program to help incoming first year university student to be better prepared for their upcoming time at university. This job affords me the opportunity to work with about 20 17-18 year olds for a week at a time. I act as a leader to the students for the week and help them learn more about the college and about the things they will face in their time there. Seeing groups develop and individuals grow is one of the most powerful things that I have ever experienced. Hearing some of the students thoughts on the program after the week was amazing. Some of the things that they said included "Adventure West Virginia was the best experience of my life" and "after Adventure I feel so much more prepared and ready for college". Hearing these students testimonials makes me proud to work for the program and happy to be involved with such a powerful and life changing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

When it comes to teaching, part of my job as an Adventure Leader entails teaching others to be more aware of the immense diversity of human life and to be more cognisant in trying to be inclusive of others. I enjoy social/group dynamics and the development of relationships, but am in no way an expert in the field. I can offer some knowledge on the outdoors and the activities above that Ive listed as some of my hobbies. I would love to learn a second language and am trying to learn Estonian at the moment. As I said before, music is very important to me and I would love to learn an instrument. Ive brought a harmonica with me but I haven't the slightest idea how to play it and would love to learn. Also anyone who is good at cooking and willing to show me a few tricks would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to new experiences and learning from them and subsequently growing as a person. Anything new to me offers a learning experience.
