About Me

Currently travelling the American southwest, with the intention of settling in Colorado in the near future. One of the friends I'm with out here introduced me to couchsurfing, and the first place we were able to stay was a very chill house with awesome/hospitable guys. So I guess this thing works?

My intention is to permanently relocate to the Boulder / Colorado Springs area in order to take advantage of the altitude and begin training in earnest for ultramarathons. Also I'll probably get into climbing since I know a few people in the area that are into it. But primarily I'm looking to run trails for a few hours a day, work for a company that is genuinely helping the world, and also enjoy the fact that I'm living in one of the most beautiful areas of probably the most beautiful state in America.

I have an intense personal interest in human health and nutrition as well as food science, and so learning/refining different parts of my "diet" so that it helps me feel greater and run better is something that is almost constantly on my mind. However I'm no stranger to sporadic culinary hedonism so I will eat some pizza, a few hot dogs or half a dozen donuts in a single sitting every now and again -- what's the point of having an awesome metabolism if you can't indulge every now and again?

I love to learn new things, especially from people who are passionate about what they know. In addition to discovering new aspects about running, food, climbing, hiking (isn't that just walking in nature?), and anything about the natural world, I do from time to time enjoy discussing certain aspects of technology -- particularly whether some new consumer technology thing-y is just a gimmick or if it can be pared down to something that could be useful without becoming a distraction. Sometimes I like to play video games... sometimes.

I'd like to host some people once I have a home again and life is a bit more predictable, but for now I'm just here to show that my friends and I are genuine and housebroken.

I have a very refined, yet still willingly crude sense of humor, and have no problem bragging about it here!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had a great experience with it and wish to return something to the couchsurfing community. Also, it makes travelling easier when youre sporadically broke.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, The Smashing Pumpkins, Chrome Sparks, Eric B & Rakim, Blood Orange, Polish Ambassador, City and Colour, Silversun Pickups

Movies - The Terminator, Fantastic Planet, Irreversible, Watership Down, Blue Ruin, lots of Lars von Trier films

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Summited the two tallest mountains in the Rockies, Mt. Massive and Mt. Elbert -- in back-to-back-days, with no real preparation or reference level for altitude sickness.

Teach, Learn, Share

Less-known nuances of running as well as ways to cook/eat that are nutritionally better for you. That being said, my core running philosophy is minimalism with non-specificity and my diet includes meat and dairy. I swear I know what I'm doing!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Long conversations about how the world does and should work, stories about being in the wilderness and/or places many people haven't been, an interesting and still-developing worldview, lots of food-related knowledge and niche cooking skills, the most delicious grilled cheeses you'll ever eat, an undening sense of adventure and exploration, and really anything else that is high-energy or intellectually stimulating.
