About Me

My wife and first mate, Nina and I have worked hard in our 20's so that we can sail the world in our 30's and beyond! If it has a coastline, we want to visit! We have been cruisng for five years now but much of that time was fully rebuilding the boat. We just had our first baby son while we were sailing in Panama and he has made boatlife even more fun! Our boat is built for heavy-weather voyaging so EVERYWHERE is on our to-go list including Antarctica and more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people. My wife, baby son and I are cicumnavigating the globe in our 47' steel cutter rigged sailboat and will need to take on crew for some of the more challenging bits so meeting awesome people as we go is always great (maybe they will want to crew with us sometime?). We used to offer up our extra room in our land house on couchsurfer (and airbnb) and it was a great way to meet interesting people. I still keep in touch with several surfers/hosts because they almost always end up being fast friends.

Interests

I am a fixer by nature and love engineering new things. We wanted to buy a boat and liveaboard full time because we love to travel and visit new cultures that are hard to reach by any other means. Now that we have our baby boy, most of my interests are focused on him; my wife and I never knew we would love him so much!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the Dice Man, and almost any book that involves stories of sea rescue.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Worked hard to buy a boat and started sailing around the world. Been through some massive storms.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach anything that anyone wants to know--knowledge should always be free. That goes both ways so anything you are passionate about is something I want to know!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, tell stories, teach organic gardening, and help build or fix almost anything.
