ABOUT ME

I am just about to move from near Portland, Oregeon USA to Melbourne, Australia to start a three-year PhD program in Virology. I don't know when I will be coming back to the USA and that is okay with me. I am bringing only a few bags and a guitar because I want to be mobile. I don't know where I'll be living yet.
I spend my personal time playing guitar, training to be a strongman, listening to music, cooking, eating and exploring my city. I like to be busy!

PHILOSOPHY

I look for the rationale behind everyone's behavior, especially if I don't agree with them.
I think I am lucky to have the ability to do the things I like to do, and I am ashamed to waste my time with anything else.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will mostly be looking for a place to stay in early February after I arrive but until I can move into my own place. After that I will use this site to explore Australia, New Zealand and Asia!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I did use this to find a place after I moved to Sweden but before I could get into my student housing. I have also couchsurfed on vacations in Vaasa, Finland and Narvik, Norway, but those were organized my girlfriend at the time.

No bed? I prefer the floor!
No pillow? I don't use them!
No shower? I'm on vacation!

Movies: I like most that I watch. My favorites are Memento, UHF, The Fountain, Inglourious Basterds.
TV: I'm bad at committing to and watching a series, except for Arrested Development and Adventure Time.
Music: KG&TLW, John Fahey, Swans, Daniel Bachman, Marisa Anderson, Mississippi John Hurt, Reverend Gary Davis, Meshuggah, Tinariwen, Tallest Man on Earth, Meshuggah and many others.
Books: Ulysses, House of Leaves, anything by Cormac McCarthy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Released freshly-hatched baby sea turtles into the ocean in Mexico.
Swam in an ice-hole in Finland in February.
