About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Wagoner Research and Travel Scholar in Switzerland!

ABOUT ME

I am a goofy college student who loves traveling, and have recently picked up couchsurfing from a tip by a friend. I am a bioengineering major with an interest in translational research, nanobiotechnology, and healthcare in the developing world, working as an intern at the CHUV this summer. I love meeting and really getting to know new people and appreciate catching up with old friends. I'd love to be a host as well as a surfer!

Otherwise, I am a avid painter, and enjoy biking around cities, and I don't know how to make it all make sense.

From a personal perspective, I am an extremely organized person, and a very methodical and structural thinker when it comes to work and living. When I travel though, I prefer not to plan, as I have found spontaneity and accidentally running into things more fun than if you try to keep to a schedule!

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you love, take risks, and making one good friend is worth more than a handful of business cards.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My friends and family know me as a mediator. Whenever things go down and tensions build, I think of myself as a good diffuser of conflict.

I am a very good improviser when things don't go according to schedule. Having moved with my parents 5 times in my childhood, I have become accustomed to getting uprooted and making new friends. I am very energetic/enthusiastic but I am also always calm when stressed, and often don't share my internal issues with others.

My friends have also described me as a "hard nut to crack", as it takes time for me to open up and be vulnerable. This is something I am working on, so please cut me some slack!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never hosted or surfed, but I have been a "pseudohost" a roommate of mine had 3 couch surfers from Spain and Germany previously, back when I was living in New York City, and I loved meeting and getting to know them.

Interests

Biking, Soccer, Painting, Music (indie), COFFEE, traveling.

I love the outdoors, hiking/camping/backpacking/fishing.

I love having a beer with friends, but I drink socially, not with the intent of losing control of myself.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Gladiator, Spirited Away, Argo, etc.
Music: The Black Keys, Broken Bells, AWOLNATION, M83, Muse, Ratatat, Phillip Phillips, Mumford and Sons, The Cold War Kids.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Grand Canyon. Seeing the raw power of nature is incredible, and really humbles a person. It's times like these that I realize I love the outdoors.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like soccer. Soccer leagues in the US aren't any good so I watch a lot of club soccer, specifically Chelsea.

I am an avid user of acrylic paints, and I can teach anyone how to make paintings that will capture moments better than photos can.

I want to learn how to speak different languages. I think it'd be the coolest thing to speak 7 different languages like my grandparents do.
