I work as a seasonal employee in Sequoia National Park, California. the past couple years, I've worked as a Cave Guide, leading tours through a couple different caves around the area. i get the privilege of meeting people from all around the world, everyday. And (the best part) i only work for half of the year, so that leaves the other half for play/travel. I've only been working this mountainous, seasonal job for two seasons and i'm twenty so i'm just getting the ball rolling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy being around awesome people and making new friends in my travels so there's no better way to do that than by sleeping on their couch. I enjoy traveling by Hitchhiking and Couchsurfing seems to share similarities with hitching. You can always spend the money to take a bus or sleep in a hostel but that's no fun and there's less human interaction.

Unfortunately I can't offer a couch because I travel half the year(I'm home free) and the other half I spend in Government Housing up in the park. But i would love to show you around the national park that I live in and love.

Interests

I have a general interest of the Outdoors. i spend the majority of my time in the mountains. I enjoying rock climbing, including big walls, as well as backpacking and caving. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and places. I'm a musician as well, mostly sticking to the drums, but I dabble in guitar and bass a bit. This summer I finally started working on jazz.

Music, Movies, and Books

i enjoy an array of music: Modest Mouse, Wolf Parade, Tera Melos, Tom Waits, Zhang Zi-quan, STRFKR, Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Pixies, Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Morning Teleportation, The Dubliners, Do Make Say Think, Charles Mingus, The Blood Brothers, Incubus, Funkadelic, American Football, Pretend, Beatles, to name some. But I'm always wanting to hear more.

Lately I've picked up reading on a normal basis. So far my favorite books have been 'The Lord of the rings' ,'Rant', 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', 'Book Of Chang Tzu', 'Beginners Mind Zen Mind', 'Nature Man and Woman'. And I'm also constantly looking for new reads. I've especially been enjoying books on Eastern philosophy and Zen.

I enjoy a large variety of movies as well.

I can teach you how to climb, and even aid climb, if that's what you're into. I can also teach you about solution caves and how to play the drums.
