ABOUT ME

In a nutshell, I am a teacher/linguist filled with wander-lust, a man who seeks to understand the world more deeply through relationships, and am an eternal optimist who loves to laugh.

I'm moving to Fairbanks, AK, to pursue my MA in Applied Linguistics. I'm looking forward to traveling around The
Last Frontier for sure. :)

Interessen

I love to travel. Experiencing new places, cultures, foods etc. are my favorite things to do. Even if it is a short trip to go on a day hike nearby and then a night spent relaxing at home, I really enjoy being active. I lived in Tanzania, East Africa for the first part of 2012, and I just got back to the States from teaching English in Honduras. Both countries have big chunks of my heart for sure.

I'm really good with languages. I can speak Swahili, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Mandarin, and I have studied Kihehe and Latin. I'm working on Portuguese and Turkish now too. :)

I love to go running, hiking, swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking and anything outdoorsy as well.

I love to invest in relationships. People are fascinating. I love hearing their stories, their concerns, their joys, their laughter...all of it.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I love reading. Everything. From the Classics to a paperback from a gas station, I'm a book junkie. I love anything that can make me think, laugh, learn...etc., I'm a sucker for a good sci-fi story, or anything that can take me away for a while.

I love so many different kinds of music, but if you put on some folk I'll be in immediate heaven. Rilo Kiley, Whitehorse, Jay Brannan, Ed Sheeran, Rend Collective Experiment, Tenth Avenue North, Dashboard Confessional, Ben Gibbard, Deathcab for Cutie, Florence and the Machine, Marina and the Diamonds, the Civil War, Iron and Wine...anything that falls into those categories!

I don't watch much TV (rather, I like to think I don't watch much TV...), but I have really enjoyed Revenge, New Girl, Parks and Recreation, travel shows, Dr. Who and any kind of show that can make me laugh or think. I love some drama, like One Tree Hill, or The OC, but can season binge on some good sci-fi like Battlestar Galactica or Firefly.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I got to spend some time with the Maasai in southern Tanzania, learning about their lives amd culture. It was an amazing and challenging time, and I loved it all: dancing, eating, singing...all of it.
