About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoy life by the bay!
ABOUT ME
Where to start... I'm from a big family, so I am all about the sharing.
I love to learn and hope that I'm an good teacher as well...
I have traveled quite a lot thanks to work and school, and am happy to be settling down for a few years in a quaint, historic city by Chesapeake Bay.
I have long felt at home living out of a suitcase; though as I've grown older, I increasingly appreciate the comfort of my own bed.
The past few years have been insane, so now I'm ready to slow things down for a little while and just enjoy where I am...
PHILOSOPHY
Why not?
I always try to keep an open mind, be respectful and courteous to others, and stay open to all the beautiful experiences the world has to offer :) and I've become quite a foodie, which gives me another way to enjoy every country (and city) I visit.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed once and greatly enjoy participating in local events. I'm usually up to meet for a drink if I'm not working, and once I get my bearings here, I will be happy to show visitors around :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed once in Bordeaux with a female college student. It was fun, she was awesome, and of course it greatly enhanced my experience in France by keeping a little more money in my pocket so I could take more day trips.
Interests
I like good food, wine, and thoughtful conversation. I also enjoy nature, board games, cheese, photography, writing, reading, theatre, dance and music (classic and contemporary), drawing, and kayaking, sailing (and all water sports really...)

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Titus, Frida, Pan's Labyrinth, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, Fight Club, Lost in Translation (takes on a whole new meaning after moving to Tokyo)
Music: Flogging Molly, Adele, Jay-Z, Weezer, Muse, Josh Groban (depends on the mood I'm in)
Books: I love the Lord of the Ring trilogy and the Hobbit, Shanghai Girls (and other by Lisa See), The Good Women of China, and (gasp)Dan Brown books... If I feel super nerdy, I read history books...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got to watch monks in Tibet making sand mandalas and swim along side a sea turtle while scuba diving in the Red Sea. Probably the coolest things I ever imagined I would witness. But my dearest memory is a walk with my sister in the misty-rain somewhere in Glencoe, Scotland :)
Teach, Learn, Share
People are really suprising. Many times, when I think I've got a person, group, or culture down (understood), I find another layer. There is always more than meets the eye. The world is not doomed- there are still plenty of amazing people out there. We just can't all shine all the time ;)
