ABOUT ME

I am known amongst my friends and family as being a very kind and responsible person. I would like to think that I have a pretty good sense of humor and try to look at situations with a "glass half full" mindset. I am very organized which allows me to get a lot done, including sightseeing when I go on trips. I love to meet new people, but more importantly I want to develop strong friendships. My friends and family are extremely important to me and I value their opinions regarding a lot of decisions I make. Many would say I'm hard working but also know how to have a good time. Currently I am studying to become a registered nurse at the University of British Columbia and once I graduate I might travel with my degree outside of Canada and work/live somewhere else for a while.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life to enjoy it. For me that means prioritizing the things I like and making an effort to do and accomplish what I want.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Last summer I stayed in Rome for five days with a couch surfer. She was a gracious host and I had practically the whole place to myself.

I love to travel and see new things (cliched as that might sound). Different people have different priorities but travel is definitely high on my list and I work hard throughout the school year to be able to treat myself with some sort of trip during my time off. I like to learn about history and culture when I visit new places and try to soak in some of the local atmosphere. I am also a major foodie! I enjoy cooking and baking on a very regular basis and am always trying out new recipes. I have so many recipes to try that I often beg my friends and family to let me cook and bake for them. I love to hang out with friends and socialize but I definitely would not describe myself as a party animal. Rather I like to gather over some food and drinks and just have a good time, maybe even play some games. And of course I love to shop. Be it window shopping cute boutiques or more serious mall adventures I love to spot good deals and bargains.

I enjoy pretty mainstream music and movies. I love a good chick flick and general funny movies. My favorite TV show is Friends and I loved Ocean's 11 and have seen it many times. I like to read stuff that's not too heavy and mostly fiction, though I do read the odd classic or biography from time to time.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Two summers ago I traveled for three weeks to Cuzco, Peru to volunteer in a medical clinic. While there, I went to visit Machu Picchu and I was blown away! Because the Spanish never discovered it when they originally came to South America, Machu Picchu was left undisturbed for hundreds of years before it was found. This lucky happening allows us now to appreciate the beauty and wonder of what the Inca created. As I stood there I could only imagine hard they must have worked to build it and how smart they were to be able to create such a gigantic palace without using modern technology and architecture. I was also amazed when I traveled to Hawaii once and went snorkeling near Black Rock in Maui. Although I am not a big nature-lover, I found the reefs to be so colorful and was taken aback by their inherent beauty. The fact that such vivid colors can be found in nature was truly breathtaking.
