About Me

CURRENT MISSION

*** currently traveling***

remember to stay calm and find the positive things in life

To be more truly understanding of others and minimize miscommunication

To live in different countries

ABOUT ME

I like to take it easy when I am traveling. Although I draw and would love to draw the portrait of anyone and everyone I meet!

at the moment I'm mostly moving around intuitively, towards the places and experiences that will really make me feel good. Rather than building an itinerary I am quite flexible and spontaneous.

As well as an artist I am also a teacher - or a better way of putting it would be to say I am curious about education. But what would be considered alternative education, as in building a life, community and society where people are not thought of as machines that require normalization. I think there is so much magic in the world that is open to us all when we are in love with curiosity about life.

PHILOSOPHY

Nothing is certain. Just breathe. Practice makes practice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is exactly what the world needs :) friends, generosity, love.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only met good, kind people - both surfing and hosting

Interests

Having fun and enjoying myself. Relaxing. Good food, oh and reading!
I draw and paint and make ceramic sculptures, paper and fibre art as well. Recently, as I am traveling I am making lino prints (like wood prints, but with linoleum plates instead of wood). I am also seeking out printmaking studios and communities - I recently made a screen printing during my short stay in Berlin. For me, printmaking and artist studios generally are an amazing way to explore new and unfamiliar places, and provide a place to meet people who also share the absolute joy of artmaking!

I saved up some money and am traveling !
Oh yeah, and recently I've become a Vipassana meditators... it's changed my life, ask me about it :)

Music, Movies, and Books

This question is too big. . .
I really like to get recommendations from others.
I love art. I cannot help myself. I will travel for art and museums, if they're worth it (not just any old place).
Right now I am reading 'art after money money after art' (max Havian); 'growing up in New guinea' (Margaret Mead); poems by WH Auden. I also just read 'the little Prince', which is technically a children's book, but the story is so beautiful and important for all of us.:)
(currently into book 8 of The Wheel of Time series - amazing fantasy world - Rand al' Thor is the Dragon Reborn!) [that comment is past the used-by date, but I thought I'd keep it up there]

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

volunteered at a forest kindergarten in Warsaw in December. Don't let anyone tell u that Poland in winter is not beautiful!

Sailed from le Havre to Edinburgh, lived on the 7.4 m yacht for 3 months, then sailed from Edinburgh to Plymouth.

Hiked up Bartle Frere (the second largest mountain in Australia, located I in tropical north Queensland), then down to Josephine Falls, from there I hitch-hiked to Mission beach and spent a couple days enjoying the beach.
