CURRENT MISSION
IMPORTANT - WE ARE FULLY BOOKED ... NO REQUESTS. THANKS.
I love travel, nature and interesting people ... to laugh often and get the juice out of life.
ABOUT ME
I'm an Aussie, living in Sydney's beautiful northern beaches (in Warriewood, not Roseville which was set up in the original profile).
I am funny, easy going, creative, down to earth and love animals - I have a very friendly Burmese cat, Topaz, who loves cuddles.
Greg has become very disabled due to a rare brain disease similar to MS so I am now caring for him full-time at home. So I travel when I can get a respite break while he goes into residential care. I enjoy exploring beyond where the tourists usually go and want to experience some of life's more quirky aspects. (Ask me for the link to my blog.)
I have travelled to some amazing places, from East and Central Africa to Iceland and Kamchatka (Russia), from the Middle East and Eastern Europe, many Asian countries to the UK, Faroe Islands, and Scandinavia. My favourite times in my travels involved meeting likeminded souls through couch surfing, Servas, help-exchange, friends and family and even chance encounters.
I love good food and can cook food that is healthy and tasty, happy to cook for hosts, particularly if they are working - I know how hard it is to have guests when working full time so I like to help out. A good guest is a treat and I like to be the guest I enjoy having to stay.
I love nature and know some fabulous nature spots on Sydney's northern beaches, where I have lived most of my adult life. When I travel, I'm keen to couchsurf with people who share my passion for nature and are peaceful souls.
At home, I love meeting people who like exploring outside the tourist traps. If I am visiting you, I'd like to see the natural places near your place, those hidden gems of nature that tourists don't normally see. If you are visiting us, I can show you the wild and natural side of Sydney's northern beaches. There are wild parrots everywhere and nearby are wetlands, a lake and two beaches, all within walking distance.
As for being guests, I'm very easy going but strangely allergic to mushrooms and coffee so no amount of encouragement will get me near them :)
PHILOSOPHY
Live life to the full and enjoy those special moments. I have a great sense of humour and love to laugh. I am intuitive and creatively minded.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have couch surfed in many places and had a fabulous time. Staying with hosts is the best thing I have ever done. I've met some fabulous people. It restores your faith in humanity - there is indeed peace on Earth, it lives in people's homes and hearts. I've had some great people come and stay with me too from various organisations as well as couch surfing. I am a writer and had an article on my couch surfing experiences published - I can send a link if you ask.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
There is nothing like staying with locals to view life and a place through fresh eyes. Seeing the world from hotel rooms and bus windows is not travelling. Locals know the best places, the most interesting and quirky areas that are nearby. I want to know more about how people live in other places. Locals add that passion about their home town in a way no one else can.
Anyone staying in Sydney would have no idea of all the fabulous wild places this vast city offers if they asked a travel agent or at a hotel. Yet within 20 mins walk from my home, in one of the world's biggest cities, there is a wetland, a waterfall, beaches, and a lake. There are over 50 beaches in Sydney and the best are nearer my place, along with lots of bush and wildlife.
Intereses
I love nature, outdoor activities like walking, swimming, cycling (at which I am utterly incompetent) and sailing. I like volcanoes and have climbed a few active ones and even seen one erupt. Before caring for Greg, I worked as a professional writer and editor on nature books and magazines. Not so fit at present, so a 2 to 3 hour hike is my limit now. I also sometimes do extras work. I have volunteered as a wildlife rescuer and enjoy yoga, meditation and can read tarot cards.

Música, películas y libros
I sing in a pop choir where we belt out hits. I love to read, read just about anything but particularly like literature based on exotic locations.
Algo increíble que he hecho
Most exciting day of my life was watching the volcano Krakatau erupting. You feel it in your bones. Ash falls on your eyelashes. (it is off Java, Indonesia). Climbing Mutonovksy, a volcano in Kamchatka was another highlight. I like to include volcanoes in my itinerary wherever I can. I find plate tectonics fascinating.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I can show you how to read tarot cards or develop your creativity and intuition. Plus give tips on writing.
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
I have many years of travel experience I can share. Also I am a terrific cook.
