CURRENT MISSION
Al mal tiempo, buena cara.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Miami as a first-generation Cuban American. That gives me the two natural gifts all Cubans have: humor and easygoingness. I've had the fortune of living up and down the East coast of the US as well as some time in Guatemala and Spain. And I've done a lot of work related stuff in Latin America, mostly in the Caribbean and the Andean coast. Between 2013 and 2015, I lived in Nepal, where I started a company. I traveled all over India and Nepal during that time.
Now I'm back in New York. Although I work a pretty corporate job, I enjoy creative pursuits during my free time. I do a lot of reading and writing, some painting and drawing, and have recently taken up gardening (difficult in an Manhattan apartment!). I try to travel as much as possible, but my passion has always been surrounding myself with people from different walks of life and backgrounds to share their experiences, challenge my perspectives, and teach me more about life. NY has been a wonderful backdrop for this fun adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted and lived with all types of people since moving to DC in 2001, NY in 2008, Madrid in 2009, back to NY in 2010, to Nepal 2013-2015, and back to NY in 2015. Whew. Throughout this time, I lived with, hosted, was hosted, or visited probably hundreds of people, mostly outside of CS. I love having people around and getting to know them.
Specific to Couchsurfing, I've hosted a few people who have been excellent and respectful guests who are really into the vision of this project -- cultural exchange and global learning.
Interests
I love a lot of things. Art, the ocean, knowing my neighborhood, spontaneous travel, taking obscenely long coffee breaks, history, culinary adventures, my friends.
I'm easy going, love deep conversations, and passion in others.

Music, Movies, and Books
One Hundred Years of Solitude is my absolute favorite, but I read lots and lots.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got to work in an awesome development agency which had me helping governments big development projects to help people, like water sanitation infrastructure, and got to meet and give the President of Colombia an award at his palace.
More recently, I started an education company in Nepal that helped more than 2500 students learn skills useful for getting good jobs.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love food and wine and cafes and make it a point to learn all about where I live, and I love to share this. Cuban coffee in the morning, mojitos in the evenings, sangria in the summer.
