À propos de moi

I'm a writer, director and poet from Mumbai. I direct films and write for Indian Television.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

Ive couch surfed my way through Many parts of India but I've always known a friend of a friend of a friend and that's worked out brilliantly for me so far except during my stay in Ladakh, where I stayed with total strangers! I've never travelled using this app, this is the first time! I like the idea of getting to know a new place through its people, it seems like a better way to learn about anything. It also saves me a buck!

Centres d'intérêt

I love hiking, trails, talking politics or learning about new cultures. I'm always up for a local Indie film or listening to music from around the world or jamming (I play a little guitar and sing). I dig local folk tales from the places I go to because I love stories in any shape, size and form!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Marquez is my favourite. I'm very inspired by Jhumpa Lahiri and recently Rushdie. I like Toni Morrison, Junot Diaz, Mario Vargas Llhosa, Arundati Roy, O. V Vijayan, Miller, Naipaul, Pico Iyer, I can go on and on. I also enjoy Murakami's stranger-than-fiction stories.

I am an ardent fan of Iranian films. I love Woody Allen's NY and his comically twisted perspective of the world. Wes Anderson is another absolute favourite, so is Ang Lee, Satyajit Ray, Richard Linklater, the Coen Brothers and the Nolan brothers. I've seen only one Japanese film- Rashomon by Kurosawa. I want to watch more Japanese films!

I love the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Kan for their folksy music. Currently I'm pretty hooked to Susheela Raman and Tinariwen. I enjoy listening to blues, accoustic, indie stuff. They're also my favourite genres to play.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Hitchhiked my way through Ladakh (in Kashmir, India) and made a 3-part Indie travelogue titled 'My Time In Ladakh'

documenting my journey and the wonderful people I met!

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I want to know more about the kind of music people listen to, the kind of films they watch, the books they read, what cultural significance it holds to them.
