About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore more of Europe, visit old friends and make new ones!
To share the amazing experiences I've had, places I've been, people I've met.
To learn and keep learning.
To finish my new book, Soul Traveler, Vol.2.

ABOUT ME

I'm an open, creative guy who's lived in Northern California since 1998. I've been traveling in Europe since 2012, and I'm back again for another adventure. As much as I can, I live my life with a spiritual connection, finding out how much I can fully live this one crazy shot at being alive. I trust that my time here will be well spent, that each person I meet gets a little brighter, a little more in touch with themselves, that together we can create a better world.

I create works of art in design and photography and I'm a writer. I feel especially grateful that I make a living doing what I love to do. I love meeting new people and making friends around the world. I've been practicing meditation for over 35 years and enjoy a regular yoga practice. I have a daughter and granddaughter who are very important to me, so I'm a family man.

PHILOSOPHY

Live in the moment as totally as possible, pour all the juice into it, for life comes and goes in the blink of an eye. Be true to yourself as there's only one of you! Share the love you find as the world needs more of it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to engage in deeper conversation about the nature of life, where we come from, where we're going. and what makes us who we are. Being open minded is important to me as that's where a real meeting can happen. And I love to contribute in any way I can to return the energy of being hosted.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've Couchsurfed in London, Oxford, Bristol, Copenhagen, Paris, Toulouse, Lyon, Turin, Milan, La Spezia, Lucca, Empoli, Pistoia, Florence, Rome and Palermo. My hosts have all been so friendly and welcoming. I've made some great new friends during my adventures and I can't wait to make more! Music, Movies, and Books

Too busy writing my own book to read many others! Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter was a literary miracle, blending time and characters and set in the Cinque Terre coast of Italy. So many films I could mention... Terrence Malick's Tree of Life for cinematography, editing and performances. Paolo Sorrentino's La Grande Bellezza for being such a vision of Rome with the best soundtrack in a long time. Music? Kate Bush's Aerial and her 50 Words for Snow were unusual and captivating. But that's just a few of so many...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Here's three: Being at the birth of my daughter; Traveling around the globe, twice; Couchsurfing through Italy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to be more present without disturbance from the mind. I can learn from you how to be a better human being and the art of hospitality. I can share my love for creative expression in a multitude of forms.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can provide great company and conversation, cook a delicious meal, contribute my skills in design, share some musical knowledge, teach a bit of guitar, watch and discuss movies, and if you're up for it, meditate together. Take a walk and be 'mindful' with every step, noticing the world in new ways from this place of presence. Or we can play Scrabble.
