About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be the change I wish to see in the world...One comic book at a time.

Six months ago, I came out as a Trans identified individual (He/Him/His ). At thirty-six years old I feel like a kid again because I'm learning myself all over again. I am very nervous, but I am happy to finally live my truth.

I'm a party child with a serious purpose that sometimes thinks too much. This is why being a photographer is perfect for me, as it allows me to channel that analytical energy into creative change. I also am a sneaker design artist (a fancy way of stating that I paint designs on shoes. I'm good at it, though).

PHILOSOPHY

When Gandhi said that we should be the change we wish to see in the world, he was dead on with that. That's what I do. If there is something that I feel should be in existence and it is in my means to do so, I'll create it myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have not been to a gathering yet in my city, but I hope to change this soon. I moved my Mother in with me a few years ago and because of this, I cannot host in my home. But if you're in my city I make a rad tour guide!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any experience yet with "surfing" (I'm a CS virgin...That came out bad, didn't it?), but I hope to soon so I can fully experience how awesome it is!

Interests

Anything that has to do with the Arts and/or cultural diversity, I'm all over it. It's a broad description but it covers everything I love most: Photography, grafitti art/painting, Neo-Soul/Hip-Hop music, cultural festivals, dance...Yeah, all of that and so much more. I'd love to spend more time at the beach, but I live at least three hours in all directions from an ocean, which is rather inconvenient.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are so broad that listing everything I listen to would be insane. But some of the top artists to whom I listen are Clear Soul Forces, Peven Everett, Disclosure, Hiatus Kaiyote, Jordan Rakei, D'Angelo, Flying Lotus, Kendrick Lamar, Osunlade, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Vikter Duplaix, Rhye, Kevin Sandbloom, Ida Devine, Me'Shell Ndege'Ocello, The Roots, 311, Jimi Hendrix and Buena Vista Social Club. The same could be said for books, as I have a huge personal library. Octavia Butler, Paulo Cuehlo (My favorite is "The Alchemist"), Toni Morrison, Kevin Powell, Sonia Sanchez and E Lynn Harris are among my favorite authors. As far as films go...Any film NOT made by Tyler Perry gets a chance with me, but "The Dark Knight" trilogy is A-MA-ZING. I tend to be more into superhero films (Avengers, X-Men, Kick Ass, Watchmen, etc.), but I LOVE a good art house/sundance film (Fruitville Station, Five Dances, Middle Of Nowhere, Children Of God, HappyThankYouMorePlease, Take This Waltz, Free Angela & All Political Prisoners, etc).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped bring my now twenty-one year old nephew into the world (probably why I still have no children *L*), and to hear him cry for the first time was just unforgettable. And indeed the first time I had my own solo exhibit of my photography. That was a true labor of love and made my parents proud. I also got to dance onstage with George Clinton once. Good times.
