About Me

CURRENT MISSION

GET IN ON THE JOKE!

ABOUT ME

I am a tireless proponent of the color purple (not the book, but the color). Some of my other passions include diva cups, Arrested Development, latkes, kangaroos, and incessant wordplay. I oscillate between working hard and hardly working. The former involves writing a hell of a lot, for school and for self, reading a book a week minimum, selling Eric Carle books, and emotionally supporting a wide range of unstable yet loving female friends. When doing the latter, I also like to write and read, only casually, but also eat, craft maniacally, and mail stuff to people.

----UPDATE----

College graduate, woohoo! Heading to Moab, Utah to work for a year. Most of the above still holds true, though I no longer sell Eric Carle books or do anything at all for school!

PHILOSOPHY

The world is a hilarious joke; you're in on it or you aren't. GET IN ON IT! (thanks ruth).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently all about CS, though it seems few people are down to stay on my semi-rural highly isolated college campus, even though we have LLAMAS. And special cows with only one stripe. So for now, I suppose I will explore other couches, so that I can gather tips for my eventual CS haven.

----UPDATE----

Currently in the process of moving, so I can't host. But I'm always happy to give advice on places I've lived (Chicago, Amherst, Costa Rica, San Francisco) or point people towards other potential hosts!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I really just started last January, and definitely consider myself a convert. I went on the road trip of a lifetime with 3 of my best friends, dedicated proponents. A born skeptic, I was fairly unexcited. Now I honestly can't imagine willingly staying in a hotel ever again- CS is the ideal way to meet people, explore strange and new perspectives, and fight corporate controlled travel. I am inclined to inherently trust everyone on CS, and I hope that remains a possibility.

----UPDATE----

I've now hosted and surfed a whole lot, and had GREAT experiences every single time. Yeah!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in Costa Rica when I was 15 and traveling with a closely knit group of Swedes, Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, and Germans, eating pineapple swimming in giant waves drinking Imperial and exchanging invaluable cultural knowledge.

Teach, Learn, Share

In Pomona, my friends and I halfway convinced a large group of ladies to say goodbye to tampons and embrace the possibility of a reusable menstrual cup.
