About Me

Next trip: Mexico, March/April 2016

ABOUT ME

I might seem a little confused before I have my morning coffee. I could be shorter than you, but then again maybe not. I like to take candid pictures of people wearing Yankee hats and cute dogs. A dog wearing a Yankees hat would be the best, but that's very rare.

I don't smoke.

PHILOSOPHY

It's better to travel in comfortable shoes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I meet people in (and from) far-off places. I'm sometimes a little shy when I travel; this site has helped enrich my travel experiences, and perhaps I can give the people I meet a different perspective. Or at least buy them a drink.

I have stayed with and/or met several people in Taiwan, Mexico, Hong Kong, and Japan and also some visitors to San Francisco, so CS is working very well for me so far.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met CS people abroad and in San Francisco.

Interests

How about travel? I also enjoy music, sports, movies, politics, some television.

Music, Movies, and Books

"The Lives of Others" is a recent favorite. "Casablanca" is my all-time favorite.

Some bands I've seen overseas are Yo La Tengo, Belle & Sebastian, Elvis Costello, Lambchop, and the Flaming Lips. I like indie pop/rock music among many genres.

My favorite book is "My Life and Hard Times" by James Thurber.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the sunrise in Alishan and the sunset in Kenting in the same day, which is a little amazing if you're familiar with the geography of Taiwan.

Years ago I taught English to children in Taiwan. That may not seem amazing to you, but it is to me.

I've seen my favorite band, Yo La Tengo, in Japan, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, France, the Netherlands, and Italy. Oh, and in three time zones in the USA too.

And my sister and I adopted a puppy in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Taiwan, United States
