Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
After a month or so of living in Chile, a friend and I decided to head south, camp in a national park we saw on the map. We found the bus that up to the park and got on the last one going up that day. After a while, my friend starts talking to the bus driver; I'm not really paying attention. Next thing I know, we're off the bus, the bus driver is pointing down a little dirt road into the forest, telling us just walk down there. Then the bus pulls off. My spanish still wasn't that good, nor was my friend's, but he asked him for somewhere to get some food before we head into the park. Not knowing how far the park is, or how we'll get there with no more buses, we go down the road to find the building there abandoned. We head back to the main road and find a small shack of a restaurant there. No need for a menu - do you want empanadas? In the end, the shop owner's brother shows us a local swimming hole, we sit around the bonfire with all the locals drinking wine and Coke all night, and I end up crashing on an extra bed that the shop owner has in the back of the shop (his bedroom) and my friend sleeps outside under the stars. I can dig it!
