About Me

Hi there! My [nick] name is Nina! :)

I've studied film, drama, theater, intercultural communication, and media & communication on and off while at university. It's been fun but hasn't resulted in a job within that field (yet). Don't get me wrong, I am not pessimist, quite the contrary! My adventurous look at life is my favorite characteristic about myself, which has created amazing opportunities for me.

I am a very goal-oriented person with my sights set high on many great things, and during 2016 I transitioned into a minimalist lifestyle, and I've relearned where to invest my time and money. I no longer spend money on impulse buys, rather on my top priorities, and one of them just so happens to be TRAVEL.

This upcoming fall I'm returning to university to pursue a degree in something that will make a good career and make good money. One of my biggest dreams through the years has been to return home to the good ol' U.S. of A, which I am dead set on making a reality.

During 2017 I will be hosting travelers as much as possible, so if you're headed for Malmö, hit me up! Here's a great page for inspiration:

Due to my job, I CAN'T host people on weekdays, with the exception of Friday evenings after 19.00. I plan my weekends with my surfers 2 weeks in advance at a time. (Please read 'my home additional info' details).

Interests

Dream destinations:

🇫🇷 France - Paris, the Eiffel Tower and have genuine French cheese, bread and wine ...

🇺🇸 U.S.A. - New York: Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, it's New York! I just want to wander ... of course the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Hawaii, to see Pearl Harbor ... there are too many places to list ... I want to see places all over the U.S. ...

🇭🇷 Croatia - See Split, where my dad proposed to my mother, Dubrovnik ---> Game of Thrones locations, (nerd here!) ...

🇪🇸 Spain - I'm dying to eat the food, dance the flamenco, see Andalusia, and I want to travel to north of Cadiz. It's theorized that the lost city of Atlantis is located underneath the mud flats! ...

🇧🇷 Brazil - Be in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival, see Christ the Redeemer, dance Samba ...

🇵🇫 Polynesian islands - The islands that explorer Thor Heyerdahl sailed to on the Kon-tiki! ...

🇯🇲 Jamaica - It's Jamaica! See Bob Marley's home, hear real reggae on the streets, eat Caribbean food! ...

🇨🇺 Cuba - I want to surprise my dad and take him to Cuba, a place he's always wanted to go, hear the music, drums, eat the food, see the old Havana, and be apart of the fascinating culture ...

🇳🇿 New Zealand - Hobbiton and Lord of the Rings/Narnia locations, Milford Sound ...

🇻🇳 Vietnam - See what once was Saigon, to see the place my dad preached to American soldiers during the Vietnam war ...

🇿🇦 South Africa - Save the Children came to my class when I was in 9th grade, and they wanted 2 volunteers to come with them to Cape Town. I had a Katniss Everdeen moment and said that I volunteer! They picked me! When I got home my mom said 'no' because I was too young, so naturally they picked someone else and my classmates came home with the most amazing stories about what they saw and what they did for the children there. Till this day I regret not going. So this country is one of my biggest goals! To See the tip of Africa, Cape Town, learn more about Apartheid, (I really admire Steve Biko), the Cape of Good Hope, volunteer, go on a Safari game drive ...

🇨🇬 The Republic of the Congo ... See wild gorillas in their natural habitat, and just be in the African jungle, oh my goodness! ...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I travel with 1 bag only, so I take up very little space, I keep things tidy, and I respect house rules. If you have a kitchen, you can depend on me to cook you anything spicy!

I can teach you some Swedish and give you insider tips if you ever plan on visiting this Nordic/Scandinavian land, and also what it's like growing up bilingual/bicultural. I'll bring some Swedish sweets with me or you can request something, and I'll bring it as a 'thank you' for your hospitality and opening up your home to me.

I am a traveling filmmaker, so I will be documenting everything, so if you want to be featured in my videos, I'd love for you to be a part and share your stories and experiences of your travels around the world.
