About Me

ABOUT ME

I love travelling. I love the new food, the scenery but most of all the people. Nearly all of my fondest travel memories come from being with others, whether locals or fellow travellers. I try to travel in lots of different ways: so far it's mainly been bicycle touring but I've also tried a bit of backpacking and hitch hiking. I'd love to learn how to sail at some point.

I'm often attracted to weird places or things. I like to explore old dilapidated buildings and villages and have a massive fondness for Soviet era communist or cement architecture. I'll try and do as much urban exploration as possible, and in a perfect world would also go to parties in these abandoned buildings.

I've travelled quite a bit in the past, I've cycled 12,000 miles around Europe (from London to Croatia and back again) and Asia (from Malaysia to Uzbekistan) and I've been backpacking around Central and Eastern Europe a few times

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed a few times and occasionally met someone for a coffee, all tremendously positive experiences. In a few years time I hope to be able to host surfers in London and take them to my favourite places nearby.

I like to feel a bit embedded in local areas, not just staring at them through a glass window, which I can often feel like going hostel to hostel, but couchsurfing feels different. It makes you feel less like a tourist and more like a local.

Interests

Music, reading, films. Any form of media that makes me think.

I also love cycling and generally being outside, be it in parks, walking around cities or just lazing about having a picnic in a field. Festivals are pretty much the highlight of my summer usually. I love good club nights out: mainly techno or house.

Then there's geography, comedy, politics, gigs, good beer, urban exploration. I'd never turn down a good club or party either (especially if techno is playing), dancing until sun

Music, Movies, and Books

No particular order here, other than a stream of thoughts.

Movies - Solaris, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Children Of Men, Requiem For A Dream, Four Lions. Give me a great dystopian sci-fi, comedy or drama and I'll be delighted.

Music - Ambient, Alternative Rock, Electronica, Hip-hop, Noise, Post-rock, Rock, Post-punk, Shoegaze, Techno / whatever. I love live music and DJ's. My LastFM profile shows my tastes best;

Books - American Psycho, Notes From The Underground, 1984, Brave New World.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycling around Europe and Asia, the whole experience really. From the constant hospitality of strangers to the sublime and diverse scenery.
