About Me

CURRENT MISSION

On an epic mission for sake of self, humankind, and nature.

1) Find stoke. 2) Share stoke 3) Sustain stoke.

www.stokequest.com

Longer: Seeking fulfillment in figuring myself out, along with other aspects of life. Working to speed the exponential proliferation of positive change... to minimize pain and maximize pleasure on a global scale by creating, synthesizing, testing, and disseminating ideas and experiences.

I figure if everyone else isn't afraid of dying and suffering all the time, and are encouraged to solve problems with their natural curiosity and a few key tricks to help us get to work on what really matters, and love that work, we'll pretty much solve all the world's problems in a few years.

Focusing on the most immediate and significant human issues allows me to ignore the more philosophically nefarious ones.

ABOUT ME

I'm tricky.

Longer: I have a background as a wandering nomad. Then I ran a marketing department for a medical device company. Now I'm nomadic again, but trying to use my business acumen to change the world for the better.

I need to state for the record: Couchsurfing friends, you are some of the finest people ever. Your qualities are admirable, and your diversity astonishing. Keep up the good work.

Global sustainability practices (and humanism followed by deep-ecology) should be the next putting-a-man-on-the-moon, but it can only happen if we change the way we teach and learn - for global self-actualization. Massively Multiplayer.

PHILOSOPHY

I would like human kind to mostly get along in sustainable contentment. I would like to believe in eternal growth, that the entropy of life is lies.

"Do any human beings ever realize life as they live it---every, every minute?"

"Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God."

"Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change; The courage to change the things that I can; And the wisdom to know the difference."

"As the circle of light increases, so does the circumference of darkness around it."

"You can't study the darkness by flooding it with light."

"Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it."

"I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul."

"A Witty Saying Proves Nothing."

Couchsurfing is awesome and I want to spread the good word. Some have compared me to a religious fanatic (but I don't believe in extremism).

CS appears to be on the rebound. I love you dear, dear Couchsurfing. You're going to be OK. (To think I once felt compelled to register www.savecouchsurfing.com.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was born!

Since that was now a whopping 3.0 decades ago, more recently I learned to fly like a bird.

The last time I was a rambler, I tried to become a documentarian/writer on issues of sustainability and development at UC Santa Cruz, as a stop on an around-the-country motorcycle trip. In the process, I learned buttloads and made a huge number of incredible friends and acquaintances.

To me, these experiences are an epiphany of what learning should be all about.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to leap and miss the ground. Fly like a bird.

Sailing basics, bicycle & motorcycle repair, photography, rock climbing, construction, MacGuyver repair of things people use in life, adventuring, risk management...

I want to learn more to jam, fly, dive, and to software program. And practically everything else, too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an open book! People tell me to start a youtube channel for all the weird, eccentric, and eminently practical information I am always sharing with folks about life and living.

I can juggle... I can maybe teach you, too? Also love to cook.
