About Me

Hello! I'm Ram, born and brought up in southern India, now keeping the stereotype well and alive in SF bay area as a software developer for Cisco.

After 3 years of work, I've finally saved up enough holidays to travel in search of some weather (besides always sunny) in Europe!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of shared living, it's a great way to meet the locals and tourists alike and share experiences and knowledge. Having lived in such spaces before, I cannot ever imagine staying in a hotel (...okay, maybe when I'm 40)

Interests

I enjoy outdoor activities very much! In my spare time, I love to bike around the various land features bay area offers (Mt. Tam is my favourite, if you're ever there). One of my goals in the coming years is to climb the face of Half Dome in Yosemite, so you can find me training in the climbing gym often.

I also like to ponder and debate (read: slack off) on subjects like philosophy, anthropology and political science -- I can talk your ears off on these!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a wide variety depending on my mood and ambience -- all the way from electronic and indie to folk and traditional, but having spent time in Southern US, I can relax anytime to good 'ol bluegrass!

Books: A Brief History of Nearly Everything, Fight Club, been re-discovering some old classics of late: Moby Dick, Oliver Twist.

Movies: O Brother Where Art Thou, Knockin' on Heavens Door (the german film)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My most challenging experience: being caught completely unprepared for rain while camping in the Appalachian in the dead of winter. Having my tent, sleeping bag, clothes and towels drenched with 7 hours to go for the morning -- I certainly learned a lot about my limits that day!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an electronics enthusiast, and I love demystifying the a layman's perception of them, and show them simple and cheap ways to use them to make a difference, whether in the house or outside!

I can also teach some piano (theory, haven't regularly practiced in a while), about the culture of India, Silicon Valley.

I'm all ears to anything and everything anyone has to offer, and through my experiences, I've picked up sewing, snowboarding and knowledge on optogenetics this way!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A very specific question this, and naturally a lot of the above apply here and so I'll resort to humour for this:

Cleanliness, chores, and goodies from SF :)
