About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a way of fitting more hours into the day so I can do more stuff!

ABOUT ME

I have just moved back to Ireland after 5 years in Amsterdam. I like making up dodgy jokes, learning foreign languages, meeting interesting people, and I'm partial to a nice beer or a good whisky from time to time.

PHILOSOPHY

Keep busy, stay active, try to improve myself and enjoy doing it

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I might only be able to host occasionally, but if I can't then I'm happy to explore my city with visitors and/or have you round for dinner if I have the time. I've been on holiday and mostly met up with couchsurfers to hang out with, while staying at a hostel/hotel, although I did stay with some really nice people in Brazil.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted quite a few people and met several more, both on my travels and through visits to my city.

Interests

Learning languages, playing guitar, going to concerts & festivals, reading, running, swimming, playing & watching football, stand-up comedy, travelling, independent movies...

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: good comedies, foreign & independent movies, some action films and some dramas (far too many to name, but some examples are Blues Brothers, Midnight Run, Dirty Harry, The Big Lebowski, Cell 211...)

Music: I play guitar so I like to listen to good and creative guitarists - stuff like Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck, Cosmosquad (if you don't know them, you should) - these are just the first examples which come to mind but I generally appreciate anything with a decent level of compositional and/or instrumental talent

Books/authors: Catch-22, Brave New World, The Tin Drum, A Confederacy of Dunces, Ernest Hemingway, Franz Kafka, George Orwell...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing huge thunderstorms in the middle of the night while travelling across the Canadian prairies

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to work in a cocktail bar, so I can still remember a few tricks. I'm also very handy when it comes to general knowledge and trivia (useful in pub quizzes), I can show you how to cook an Irish stew, I might be able to teach you a little guitar, too.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

France, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, United Kingdom
