Overview
About Me
Hello! I am Nesli (or Nefle, you choose). I am an active optimist, an aspiring engineer and a self-proclaimed Tolkien admirer. I believe that there is always something to laugh at, it is just a matter of your ability to find it. I have a slight tendency to find it in most unsuitable places, but still. "Curious" is one of the adjectives that I can use to describe myself; I enjoy learning about different cultures and get to know people, which leads me to the world of traveling. Although I do not travel too often, I have so much fun when I do.
I am also a postcrosser, I exchange postcards with people all around the world. I have a small (but fairly beautiful) collection of postcards, and when I am not travelling it brings the world to my home.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There are 196 countries in the world, whereas there are 8313 different cultures! I think that this fact alone is enough to see that local people are the best sources to visit and "experience" a city. Moreover, the couchsurfing community consists of open-minded people who are eager to meet a person from another corner of the world, and even to host them; I think that requires mutual trust, something we are so much in need nowadays. Considering all that, I decided to join Couchsurfing, and am glad that I did!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I listen to almost everything depending on my mood, but the genres I like the most are indie and post-rock. I play clarinet and am into classical music as well. If I were to name some of my favorites, I would say Beirut, Sigur Ros, Alt-J, Radiohead, and Tycho...
Movies: I am a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. Christopher Nolan and Stanley Kubrick movies have a special place in my heart. I like animation movies as well; I took 3D animation courses and trust me, they are more than artpieces!
TV Shows: Anything that contains artificial intelligence, robots, altered genes, time tunnels, apocalypses. I have a recent favorite: I will say Westworld, you will say YAS.
Books: When it comes to books I cannot name one as my favorite as there are so many of them, but it is safe to say that I especially like the books of Orhan Pamuk, a Turkish novelist.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, I stayed alive for 18 years in a strange planet called Earth.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a talkative person, and I am sure that there will be something common. I would love to share traditions and folktales of my country, and would be more than willing to hear those of yours. Another thing I must mention is the Turkish cuisine! My parents are from Hatay, the food capital of the country, therefore I can cook meals that you never tried before (no guarantees that you'll like them though). Also, please be assured that I will treat your place with respect and care.
