ABOUT ME
I work as a Data Scientist near DC. Prior to working, I studied Applied Mathematics at Iowa State University. Apart from solving mathematical problems, I love dancing, hiking, playing volleyball and racquetball, traveling and meeting new people. I am quite talkative. So, rest assured, you will never face the *awkward silence* problem in my company. I am energetic and spontaneous. As much as I love partying, I also love spending the night listening to stories from my friends, strangers or rather anyone.
I have no hard rules. I can adjust to any situation. I am rough when I travel. :)

PHILOSOPHY

1. do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
2. When you are torn between 2 choices, always pick the one that will make the best story.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I am on couch-surfing because I love meeting new people and knowing a place through the eyes of a local person. I am curious about different cultures and want to absorb as much as possible while radiating what I have gathered through my experiences.
I had my first CS experience in Canada. It was amazing and that made me want more. I have couch-surfed in US as well ( Miami, Orlando, NYC, Boston). My experiences have kept getting better and I feel I belong to this community.
I haven't gotten an opportunity to host yet (mostly due to room-mate constraints) but I wish to host now. I want to give back to the community by hosting fellow budget travelers like me.

兴趣

- Dancing (particularly swing, lindy hop and similar types but I can move to any music)
- hiking and adventure sports (I sky-dived, scuba dived)
- I enjoy reading and watching movies.
- I can spend hours observing people. I love walking aimlessly in cities.
- I love talking to people and listening to their stories.
- It is a huge pool of knowledge and I want to dive deep into it. I have an insatiable hunger to learn new stuff. Even if I do not have stuff listed here, I would be interested to learn it.

Music: My favourite are Jazz, Blues and Psychedelic Rock. I love Pink Floyd, Porcupine tree, Coke Studio to name a few. I love to explore new music. I also like folk music.

Movies: I love drama, suspense, comedy, ro-medy.. Just scared of horror movies.. Rest all flows. I really enjoy watch movies that make me think

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have seen the sun rise from a green forest valley and the snow clad peaks at the same time. I have lived in an isolated jungle away from human habitation for almost a month without any contact with the civilization. This has been the most amazing experience of my life.. :)
Felt the force of gravity when I jumped from a plane (13000ft) a.k.a. Skydived! The sunset was never so beautiful!
I have scuba-dived in Keywest, Florida ( that didn't go well).

P.S : I shall save few for when we meet.

I can share a view about India which goes beyond The Slumdog Millionaire in general. I have backpacked in India, Canada and United States. I can share my experience with hosts about places I have visited so far. I can share my experiences as a Indian, as global citizen, as a woman, as science and math student and teacher, as a traveler and as a curious observer.
