About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live up to my nickname...Neighbor Dave

ABOUT ME

I used to be a U.S.Marine, now I'm an accountant. In college (between the two) I ended up with the nickname Neighbor Dave, cause I treat everyone like a neighbor and call everyone friend. Since as far back as I can remember i was the guy you called at 2am when friends or acquantences cars broke down, or a friend realized that those last 6 cuervo shots were a bad idea. I never thought to say no, or ask for anything in return. Never considered it. Only recently have I realized other people don't do things like that for anyone and everyone. How sad. Lastly, I tend to like and trust people until they give me a reason not to. jut my philosophy. In the Marine Corps I spent every weekend traveling to different beaches and towns in Florida for 2 years, then California for a bit. Usually never got a hotel. I'd meet people at the beach, or dinner, or the bar and find a place to crash, or just sleep on the beach. i guess you could say i was a couch surfer years before I ever heard the term. Figure it's time to make it official.

PHILOSOPHY

I love to break stereotypes. Which explains why I'm an infantry Marine turn accountant, who drives a motorcycle and ballroom dances. I never did it on purpose, I just have very unique and varying interest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to host, but I warn that I only have a one bedroom apartment. Living room is a plenty big enough though for my Queensize double high air mattress though (I call it The Cadillac). I'd like to add that although it say's I speak Russian, I personally don't. That is my girlfriend, who is here about 1/3rd of the time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the Marine Corps I spent every weekend traveling to different beaches and towns in Florida for 2 years, then California for a bit. Usually never got a hotel. We'd meet people at the beach, or dinner, or the bar and find a place to crash, or just sleep on the beach. I still have friends that I met that way, some of the nicest people I know. I guess you could say i was a couch surfer years before I ever heard the term. Figure it's time to make it official.

Interests

Ballroom dancing and music of all sorts, fast cars and motorcycles, Real estate, the stock market, beer, history, snakes (I have 1 Boa and one Python, both have very secure cages and will not get longer than 4 foot..They're not dangerous, any adult is way stronger than they are), dogs and Schutzhund training(although I don't have a dog, I work to much). I'd really like to learn more about the Russian language and culture (My girlfriend is Russian and I plan on learning to speak it at some point...).

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a t.v, but no channels. I never had cable, and don't miss it. Only movies I don't tend to like are suspenseful drama's, because I just want to know what happens, and end up fast forwarding. I'll get back into books once I pass the CPA exam, right now I do everything I can to be outside, and not sitting at a desk staring at a computer or inside reading.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Combat

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn about Russia. As to share...If I have time, I make a mean chili. And I can fill many a nights with stories of stupid stuff I've done that may hopefully allow someone else to learn what not to do...
