About Me

I'm very easy going and almost eternally in a good mood! New experiences, people and destinations are some of my favourite ways to spend my time. Exploring my own neighbourhood or anywhere new!

Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada is where I grew up and I completed my degree in Civil Engineering at McGill University in Montreal, then worked in Calgary, and Alberta since. Now I've been travelling the world and working remotely from Albania and Italy to Colombia and Ecuador. You'll find me climbing up mountains, skiing down them, backcountry camping, tasting new craft beers, playing guitar or a handful of other instruments, or whatever else sparks my interest.

You'll probably hear a lot of dad jokes since I'm usually pretty easily amused by puns and the little things. Always in a good mood :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and see new places -- life opens up with amazing opportunities by being open to new experiences. I'm happy to host travelers and possibly even show them around a bit. Meeting new people and sharing a visit to a new city with locals makes for a great stay!

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes can be pretty broad, but I certainly have my favourites.

I'm definitely a fan of nice and fun new country like Keith Urban, Dallas Smith, Brad Paisley, Randy Rogers, Josh Abbott and a few years back to Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.

There is a long list of movies I have yet to see and look forward to! A few favourites are Troy, Mr. Holland's Opus and Happy Gilmore.

I grew up on my dad's classic rock, so love the Beatles, Journey, Boston, Elton John, Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, April Wine, Jackson Browne, the Eagles and most bands in between. There's also definitely room on playlists for some jazz, swing, pop, classical and instrumental favourites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed to 6,088 metres in Bolivia!

Hitchhiked through the Balkans!

Spent Christmas in a small town near Salvador, Brazil exploring the markets, beaches and old city of Pelourinho.

Swam with penguins and sea lions in the Galapagos Islands!

Swam to an iceberg and stood on it in New Zealand :)

Teach, Learn, Share

More than happy to sit and chat about anything and everything. I teach English and can play several instruments, so I would love to share :) I love learning languages, so it would be fun to chat in some new ones!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I teach English and my students from all around the world tend to like my style of keeping it simple and fun. I play the guitar, drums, piano, bass, mandolin and trumpet, so would be happy to play some music!
