Overview
About Me
We are a couple of easy-going Brits who have lived in New Zealand since 2007. We had our little girl in March 2017 and are now undertaking round 2 of "eating around the world" - this time as a family of three!
Round 1, as a couple of 30-something old-ish backpackers, started in Bali in 2014. 18 months later we arrived back in New Zealand, happy to be home but knowing we certainly weren't done with long-term travel - especially after so many fantastic Couchsurfing experiences!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Since joining this wonderful community, we’ve had amazing experiences surfing with awesome hosts in Chicago, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Seattle and Anchorage, Alaska! We’ve also made new friends at CS events and enjoy having the opportunity to socialise and have discussions with people from really varied backgrounds - sometimes very different to those we would “normally” meet. We love that everyone we have met has taught us something or provided another angle on so many topics. The wonderful thing is that a real love of travel is fantastic common ground, which is truly ingrained in almost every CS-er’s persona. Numerous firm friendships have started on our travels as a result of shared new experiences, and we hope to continue meeting interesting personalities through CS!
Interests
Neil - golf, cooking, singing
Naomi - planning travel, dog training, playing poker
Both of us - Most things water-related: Kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing… and we want to learn to sail. Food, wine, craft beer - especially local specialties; we love street food and markets, food festivals and anything to do with barbecues.

Music, Movies, and Books
Neither of us are particularly into horror movies but otherwise we’re pretty easy to please. Musically we both have eclectic tastes too, but let’s try and narrow it down by saying Neil loves anything he can sing along to and I don’t need much of an excuse to get up and dance.
Book-wise lately we’ve mainly been reading Lonely Planet guides and travel blogs.
Oh, and Neil is a massive Harry Potter fan. Hope this doesn’t put you off hosting us!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Pre-parenthood: Quit work, sold house, went travelling. Best decision ever :-)
Since then: Made a tiny human!
Teach, Learn, Share
Love learning new skills, foreign words, recipes, jokes. Neil can teach you to make bread. Happy to share any knowledge that may (or may not) be useful...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Neil is always happy to cook and I’m an accustomed kitchen hand! Our little one is a smiley wee thing, she's bound to make you laugh at some point :D
