ABOUT ME

The story is a typical one - you've probably heard it before - but here we go:

I graduated during an economic recession. Took a few chances, pursued a few interests, but in the end economic insecurity and plain-old fear led me to snag the first desk job i could find and hold on for dear life. I did not like what I was doing with my life, not really, but kept at it because I was an adult after all. So I put my head down and surrendered to the routine.

7 years passed. During that time I saw the end of a serious long-term relationship, watched my parents retire and move far away, and felt my life gradually narrowing as I passed my thirtieth birthday and just kept waiting for something to happen. Work was going well. I had been promoted several times. Economically I was far more stable than I ever imagined I would be. But inside I never lost sight of the fact that I sold myself out for a life I did not want.

So I quit. My work life, which had pretty much been my entire life up to that point, faded like vapor. And here I am.

Looking to travel for 6 months to a year, with the first third of that period in your beautiful country. I have friends in Melbourne who can help to show me around but don't have an available couch. I am hoping to borrow yours in exchange for any sort of assistance you need with household chores, groceries, what have you. And of course my undying gratitude.

Per the next tab, unfortunately I gave up my place in Chicago for the sake of travel, but I am more than happy to pitch in financially for groceries, etc. during my stay with you.
