ABOUT ME
I'm friendly, relaxed, and like to cook. Like most people on this site, I really enjoy traveling.
Two years ago a did a bicycle trip across Europe with a friend from college. We started in London and ended in Istanbul. Starting in July, we'll be continuing that trip, going from Istanbul across Central Asia to Western China. I can tell you some exciting stories from the road.
After the trip I'll be moving to beautiful Santa Cruz, California to start a PhD program in glaciology. I'm excited because it means I'll get to go to Antartica.
PHILOSOPHY
The moral of the story is, is we're here on Earth to fart around.
--Kurt Vonnegut
Interests
Biking, exploring the world, cooking. In college I lived in some communal living situations where we did communal cooking and eating, which I think is a great way to build community. If you have any yummy recipes (especially ones from foreign lands) I'd love to learn them.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: folk music (American and otherwise), rock and roll, classical, jazz, various other stuff as long as it's interesting.
Books: there are too many good books in the world, so my stock answer is "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad.
Movies: Lots of good movies. I recommend you see "Murder My Sweet".
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Online profiles inevitably become emo. I slept under a bridge in Slovakia one night on my bike trip and vomitted my brains out. Bet you've never done that.
