About Me
CURRENT MISSION
After quitting my job in May 2016, I backpacked and hitchhiked across Mexico and California with my girlfriend, Trina! We are now proud owners of a narrowboat called Norah and reside in Birmingham.
ABOUT ME
There's a handful of things you might find pertinent to know about me: I am a collector of fine antique teapots (or at least I aspire to be, so far I just have one), I have an unhealthy obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I wear too much black, I get lost at least three times a day, I have undesirable hipster tendencies when it comes to music and literature and I love tomato ketchup on everything*.
I am a University dropout and proud of it, and am extremely opposed to the notion of growing up and having a career (like all the cool kids are doing nowadays). I can say, without a single trace of insincerity, that I am the happiest I've ever been in my life!
*almost everything; I tried it with yogurt when I was younger and it didn't go down very well.
PHILOSOPHY
Recently, I've been learning to not let other people's definition of success and happiness dictate the way I live my life. I want to be open to happiness wherever I find it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I can summarise the above in three parts:
1) Seeing a city through the eyes of a local is an amazing and unique way of travelling; it's beautiful to experience a different way of life, and to make friends across the world.
2) There's an instant gratification in putting your trust in someone and having someone put their trust in you; it's the foundation on which couchsurfing is built.
3) People can, at times, take CS too seriously; they forget that at its core, CS is about generosity and not always about a religious cultural exchange. I'm on CS because I want to believe that true altruism exists, and that people want to help people for no other reason that to save them from a fourth consecutive night on the urine infested streets of LA (yes this happened, and no it was not fun).

Hitchhiked over 1000 miles across Baja California, from Cabo to Tijuana, in two days.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a stellar conversationalist, with a mediocre to semi-intermediate knowledge of many things, including (but not limited to): cult 90's tv shows, cartoon network, Welsh history, Frida Kahlo, aglets, grammer and irony.
I don't like rap music, but I have painstakingly taken the time to learn the lyrics to many rap songs and will recite them at your leisure.
On a more serious note, I am tidy, considerate, an average cook, a connoisseur of fine, cheap alcoholic beverages which we can share, a teller of jokes (some bad, some good; humour is subjective), a dramatic storyteller... and the most grateful person you will ever meet if you allow me the privilege of sleeping on your airbed/pull-out sofa/bed/futon/floor (delete as applicable).
