COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It was Monday morning and I had just flown in from a weekend trip to Fire Island, NY, and I was flying out to Texas the same night for 3 weeks. I knew where I was staying the 2nd and 3rd weeks, but not the 1st. I was an independent contractor for a promotions company and was waiting to hear back from the people I was gonna be working with that first week about crashing on someone's couch, but never did. Then I remembered about couchsurfing (I'd read about it in the 4-hour workweek). I joined, created a very vague profile (as I had other things to do - such as pack and find a ride to the airport) and posted on the Dallas last minute group. A trooper named Brandon responded and almost immediately agreed to put me up, picked me up from the airport, and through a connection gave me a great deal on a rental car. Needless to say I was sold on the project and knew it wasn't gonna be my last experience.
