About Me

I'm Ivan, a pleasure to meet you.
Traveler from the age of 15 or 16, can't remember when I first ran to go to an away game. Over the years, my travel interests shifted from going to football matches to exploring cities that I have not seen before. Hogsmeade has so far eluded me.
Love to read, love to travel, but an odd type of introvert that finds it hard to meet new people. But also relish in the company, when I relax. Or find the right people. So maybe not an introvert. Not sure.
Professionally, I am, oddly enough, good at sales, support, and stuff like that. Don't deem it that important tho, the important thing is that I work remotely. Although the past year has not given me much option to enjoy that freedom.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Can't remember how I joined, it's been a while. But the last time I updated my profile was early 2020 because I had a plan of buying a car and roadtripping through all of the countries in Europe I've not been to, with the intention to meet new people. Grammarly is advising that this is a neutral text so: glitter, rainbow, happiness, and joy.
Darn, did not improve my rating.
Where was I?
Oh yeah, I thought I'd be traveling for at least 6-7 months in 2020. You know, remote working, freedom. Was not planning to start a blog or anything, because I find displaying my experience for others in such a way a distraction from the purpose. And that's the journey.
Maybe a book later on.
But, alas, as we all know, 2020 was not kind to us, and 2021 even less so. But no matter, I have decided to join you here and interact with like minded people, so that the adventure may occur sometime later.

Interests

I want to live in a new country. But I need to determine what living there would mean. Would that be 6 uninterrupted months, or a year, or more? It's a conundrum to be sure.
It's a whole plethora of things that interest me and that changes I'd say daily, some I pursue, some I don't. I'm curious, and the thing I love seeing the most is passion. In things, people, places.
I love the word fernweh. But as it's been widely adopted, I don't feel good about that. I love wanderlust. But globe-trotting also fits well.

This is more of a random assembly of sentences than interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

If you've read the first part and noticed Hogsmeade, you get one of my favorite books.
I am constantly reading, or recently, listening to, something. Although Bezos is a d-bag, I am thankful for audible and kindle, because it has altered the way I consume books.
I love the smell and feel of a page, but I also love the accessibility of the mobile devices we have.
Anything that's sf, fantasy, thriller. King is one of my all-time favorites, and the Dark Tower smacked me in the face in 2020, and I can say is one of my favorites of all time.
I do read a lot of phyilosophy, psichology too. Not sure how to place those. No matter.
Onwards!
For movies, I love to see what someone recommends to me because it lets me meet them a bit more, I love movies that will move me, I love stoner comedies. There's a lot.
Wanted to go on a Tree of life rant here, but that would give you the wrong picture about me. And that movie got me a lot of nookie, since no one can pay attention to it, so I can't speak ill of it.
Last but not least: music.
Anything and everything. Favorite being rock and ska, favorite song of all time Superman by Goldfinger.
But can just as easily throw down to some niche version of house that is hard to explain, and you can't remember the name.
It's all about the vibe and people that are there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So far, I feel that the amount of stuff I've written down here is pretty darn amazing.
We can talk about stuff we've done, feels super awkward to say that it's amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Croatian swearwords. And I expect you to reciprocate in your language.
I can teach you how to play You are my sunshine on the harmonica.
I can teach you how to lose a day in the most enjoyable way. Hah. It rhymes.
I'm learning how to let go. And enjoy.
So who knows, we just might help each other.
