ABOUT ME

Both Chris and I are naturopaths, and hence are very interested in the health and well being of ourselves and everyone! I, Nena, am also studying to be a lactation consultant, and am also going through a phase of being very interested in positive psychology. We are both vegetarian and love the outdoors.

I, Nena, love the beach, but dont get there often enough.
Chris is an avid cyclist - both mountain biking and road riding.

We love travelling.
We love camping and walking in the bush. Riding. Spending time with friends. Laughing. Eating. Cooking. Music. Good coffee. Good quality chocolate. Gardening. Flowers.

PHILOSOPHY

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness, concerning all acts of initiative (and creation). There is an elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then provindence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help ont that would never otherwise occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed whould have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We would like to host as much as we can...We get lots of couch requests (especially around summer) and unfortunately have to decline some as our house is very small.When we host, we like to help as much as we can with where to go and places to see, etc. We do sometimes work long hours, but other times we dont. So it depends on the week as to how much we can hang-out and sight-see, or not. If its late or a funny hour, we will try to collect you from the city if we are able, or at least from the bus stop if you have a lot of things. Between us we have travelled a lot, and know exactly what its like to be running out of money or the hostels are full for whatever reason, but we do request that surfers help out when we are hosting them. I guess we like a little effort given in return for us sharing our home. We like sharing meals, but cannot afford to feed everybody. If we shop together for meals, we like to share the costs (within reason), or at least like some contributions. We dont expect gifts, but to help out with cooking (a meal from your country perhaps?) or cleaning up, is greatly appreciated. Of course what we love about couch surfing is hearing travelling stories and about other parts of the world and other lives. We also love sharing stories and knowledge about various things and life in general. When being hosted, we have respect for your space, energy and time and will happily cook you a meal or clean the kitchen and contribute where we can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All experiences have been great. We have hosted several CSers so far, they have all been fun and kind people.
Have also been hosted which was a very warm, welcoming experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: pirates of the caribean,little miss sunshine, amelie, chocolate, time travellers wife, fear and loathing in Las Vegas, look both ways

Books: purfume, terry pratchett, neil gaiman, dan millman, tom robins. too many to think of

music: all sorts, I, Nena, am not really into heavy metal at all... more blues and roots sort of stuff, drumming - african, japanese, indonesian, etc... some electronic/house/drum & bass (dont know my genres very well im afraid!). mixed array anyway, and i vary with time, and am always up for new things. Shpongle, The Herd, Unkle Ho, Banco de Gaia, The Waifs, Camille... some of Nena's favourites at the moment
Live music is always the best.
I love playing musical instruments, but am very much a novice.. would love to play flute, and double bass!
Chris is a dj, plays a variety of sounds too - from chillout kind of music to dance music... his music collection is massive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nena lived in Guatemala for a year. that was pretty amazing really.
Chris has been to Burning Man festival (which we are both hopeing to go to in 2012 - yew!)

Teach, Learn, Share

We could share/teach (and learn) anyone to know about their health and how to improve it...
We could teach how to cook, or share yummy recipes and food. We could share the experiences of life so far, and share in the experience of meeting you! We are sure we will learn something from every conversation we have or hear.
