ABOUT ME

I live in Bologna (Italy) with my boyfriend Pietro and our two lady-cats. I study, work and follow my interests at a time...
In 2011 and 2012 I spent almost two years as a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley (CA), living all around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Whenever I can I undertake or plan some travel, Pietro and I often travel together but we both also love travelling alone, it just relaxes you a lot!
I especially like backpacking, quiet or adventurous but usually non-touristic destinations, and getting in touch with interesting and unconventional people. I recently discovered a strong vocation for driving old vans!
Food, words, colors, music, and people's stories, are part of the travel and part of the place I am visiting, and thus get my full attention! :)

PHILOSOPHY

Knowing more about other cultures in the world helps me giving the right importance to things, just like history does on the time dimension. I enjoy learning new languages and new words, taking photographs and writing down travel diaries. I travel with no reservation and light, if any, luggage. I am good at keeping contacts with my faraway friends; I may mess up with faces and names but I never forget a story...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We started hosting surfers as soon as we had a house to do so. Before that, it was friends and family all around the floor, couches and balconies.
CS proved a great solution for some of our own travels, too, and in general we love the philosophy behind it.
Currently it's more of an experiment in between preparations for the arrival of our baby, so we might not always be available...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We hosted some people and had great experiences. Elena has been surfing and hosting here and there in California and the US, and participating to CS gatherings and activities.
She managed to use it in various ways, from attending conferences, to hiking weekends to girls'road trips.

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Night on a castle's rooftop in the Sahara desert.
Swimming with sea lions in the Cortés Sea.
And probably flying out to Thailand alone with 60 bucks (don't tell my mom)

I know how to make extra-small luggages
I know how to cook italian cuisine and how to hitch-hike in Thailandese.
Pietro is great at cooking and bargaining!!
