About Me

Engineer by profession turned Entrepreneur by choice chasing Purpose, Meaning and a Paycheque. I am extroverted, love learning (currently working on learning how to swim, slow process, but i'll get there).
Born and raised in South Africa, graduated BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town and also did a Masters in Industrial Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand.

After my undergraduate degree, I joined a steel manufacturing company as an automation engineer. I then took up an operations management role working as the technical assistant to the COO for ArcelorMittal SA before venturing out into the technology startup scene in Johannesburg.

I am a social entrepreneur working working in the healthcare space, my organisation is called Technovera, a technology startup company focused on building digital solution with a focus on digital inclusion. We've developed Pelebox Smart Lockers that reduces the waiting time for patients collecting chronic medication at primary healthcare facilities in South Africa. The solution helps patients in rural and township communities collect their chronic medication quickly and avoid the long queues.

I am always up for a challenge and heavily invested in the development and adoption of smart technologies in the African healthcare industry. Africa is a continent with some really interesting challenges, this makes it the most fertile ground for impactful social entrepreneurship. My passion for the impact of technology keeps me hungry and in search for new ways of thinking.

The world is round and stuff happens. I live to love, enjoy, get challenged, learn, have fun, experience great music and find a way to create impact. I personally believe that we exist to promote and cultivate a giving culture.

I am easy going entrepreneur that likes meeting new people. I am an outdoors type who can also survive a weekend in with a good book. Like going to new places and enjoying meeting new people and ideas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

About a month back (Nov/Dec 2016). I had the opportunity to travel to Helsinki, Finland and met really awesome people. I wasn't aware of the platform until a friend of mine indicated that Couchsurfing is a great way to meet people while exploring great areas in the world.

I was staying at the Hilton Hotel and found it very reserved. It just didn't work for me, wasn't getting the experience I wanted in relation to the warmth of a local home. An experienced Couchsurfer indicated that my personality would be highly suited for the platform and challenged me to join the community and start off by hosting people in my apartment in Johannesburg.

I am still very new to concept, I am open to any advice that you might offer when visiting South Africa.

I am hoping to hone my skills as a great host, looking forward to great conversations, shared meals (I am a relatively good cook) prepared together and potentially showing you around my town (depending on time)
