About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Rebuilding my life after a big break-up and health issues - joy!

ABOUT ME

Erm. Have two lovely dogs, and a suddenly much smaller group of people I know in Bristol. Love live comedy when I get around to it, used to love mountain biking and live music, working on re-building those loves - any help much appreciated! Have lived in Norway, and would LOVE to meet any Norwegian speakers to practice my Norwegian on - it WAS fluent. It's now more EFfluent as I forget more words the more I try and remember :(

Love music, pretty eclectic range, does not respond well to R&B and much dance however. Daft Punk, Prodigy (or at least Fat of the Land) and Faithless are my limit really. Current favs are: Tom McRae, Toh Kay, Katzenjammer, Kaizer's Orchestra, Flipron, 12 Stone Toddler, Major Parkinson. Points for knowing any/all of them! :) If you care: http://www.last.fm/user/neobrainless

Or, check out my band-on-hiatus The Highway Home, as I figure the music I like making says something about what I like, especially tracks 2, 3 & 4 of the EP :) https://soundcloud.com/the-highway-home

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live - don't preach at me and I wont shout at you! Being nice is always good, being relaxed about stuff helps life go a lot more easily.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Erm. Not much at the moment to be honest. Can't really offer a couch at the moment. Looking to get involved with some climbing/biking/music stuff around town though.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Met up with one person from CS, who was cool, had a fun evening, hope I made them feel a bit more welcome to Coventry!

Interests

As stated above, music - I play guitar, am getting better at bass, attempt violin when I think none of my neighbours are in :P Oh, I love going to live music too - spend far too much on that...
Love climbing, but haven't got around to it for FAR too long now :(
Love bikes, really, honestly, I do!
Also a bit of a failed geek - can't do anything useful, but spend far too much time on my computer anyway!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies... Hmmm, enjoyed Pandorum and District 9. Loved Sherlock Holmes and Four Lions. That covers some random cinema. I think I'll include the AWESOME Josie Long 'Trying is Good' DVD here as it is VERY GOOD. Casshern rocked my lil' socks too. Love the whole Firefly/Serenity collection.

Music is far too big a question, I'll only scare everyone with my anality (great word, no?) if I list bands I like... To add some more to the above: Blur, Kula Shaker, Led Zeppelin, Offspring, the Levellers. Must stop before I list EVERYONE I like...

Books. Hmm. Don Delillo is a perennial favourite, as is Stephen Fry. Will Self is good too, and linked (via his 'cover version' of The Picture Of Dorian Grey) Oscar Wilde - though tbh I have only the Dorian Grey so far...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the Northern Lights from the helm of a sailing boat on the Oslofjord was pretty spectacular. As was lying in the snow completely alone under a perfectly clear winter night, unable to hear anything but my own breathing. Norway is awesome :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how a Gas Turbine works! I did a mini course in it for work, have a certificate and everything! :O Only other useful skill would be bicycle maintenance - I can do pretty much anything hsort of suspension servicing :) Lacking some tools for some bits though. Also lacking a workshop :(

As far as useful things are concerned I'm pretty rubbish, I can cook a mean cake or four, and make pretty good food, but nothing fantastic, or at least not that couldn't be beaten by many others, or a decent recipe book.

Can rabbit on about lesser known information about some bands I know for hours if prompted to too much. I restrain this as much as I can, but if you ask I will tell! You have been warned! :P

Oh, and can handle basic guitar teaching...
