About Me

CURRENT MISSION

become a mad climber and complete nomad training

ABOUT ME

In 2011, I did my first solo round the world adventure through Central America, Africa and Europe to satisfy a case of wanderlust at the time... of course it only exacerbated my condition and now travelling consumes me.

Now, I have taken a long hiatus from life and am currently travelling for the next one to two years. I am in Europe for 12 weeks hunting for the best climbing before heading to beautiful South America in November.

Like a real Australian, I love tanning, so I always like travelling to hot places with sun and beach, but my number 1 dream right now is to trek Torres del Paine.

Some day, I will live out my domestic dream of owning a big dog in a beautiful house and have a vase full of fresh flowers on my kitchen bench. But for now, I will just continue my nomadic experience. You can follow my travels on www.the5ftwanderer.wordpress.com

PHILOSOPHY

Always base your decisions around your own happiness. I'm curious about other people's stories and I talk a lot so I hope you are prepared for that.

If you feel like I'm asking you too many questions, FEAR NOT. It's only because I wanna hear all about your travels/experiences!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I used to live far from the city, I hosted as many events as possible.

In just one month, we did three bbq's, one Laserforce event, one lawn bowls event. They were all great successes and never in my life had I ever met such amazing and friendly people.

Now that I live near the center, I can host properly.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I always remember the ones where you stay up until the early hours of the morning talking about life, love and the future. They are the people who will teach you things you never knew, the ones where you thought fate brought you together and the ones who will burn a crystal clear memory in your mind when you reminisce long after they've moved on.

Interests

Maybe it is weird but I am always thinking about travelling even when I am travelling. My passion is the outdoors, climbing(ESPECIALLY), hiking, camping, diving...

I'm a food lover so you'll probably see me eating a lot or trying to find something to eat... I bake cupcakes other delicious things. If my surfers share the same love or you're a host with a penchant for chocolate, we're going to have a great time!

I also really want to learn how to sail.

And get my skydiving licence.

And learn to drive a four wheel drive.

And about a million other things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classic literature that is full of body and love, descriptive and romantic.

As for music, I am completely obsessed with trance; I've stalked my favourite DJ's all around the world and I'm not ashamed to admit it :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Any climbing I do

Climbed a 30 metre mast of a tall ship while under command of the Royal Australian Navy.

Went skydiving in Gap, Alpes Du Sud. It was the first time I saw snow!!

Interviewed the Dalai Lama's sister for a news article.

Stayed in the middle of the Panamanian jungle high up in the mountains. In the morning, we would see monkeys and weird possum/wallaby-like endemic creatures right outside the window.

Went diving with turtles (I even fed one), stingrays and hammerhead sharks in Belize- exhilarating!

When I was growing up and thought about what a 'tropical island' was, I pictured the typical green hump in the ocean with a palm tree sticking out of it. Little did I know that it would be exactly as I imagined when I travelled without family for the first time to Fiji.

Attended an annual fireman party in Paris with my CS hosts.

This wasn't really amazing but attending TWO Couchsurfing parties one after the other in the course of four days, having to sleep in a 6-person tent with 8 people, playing 30-person Twister then going to the beach the next day, was quite fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

I dislike close-minded people who don't want to learn about the world, other cultures or issues in their own backyard.
