About Me

Pleased to meet you,

I'm Neto Lócio, Brazilian law student, translator, TOEFL test taker and exchange student at OHIO University starting February 2020. English has been my passion since childhood, I'm grateful for all the opportunities this wonderful language has given me. Today I focus on learning French by doing some of the things I love the most, reading books and playing all sorts of video games. I'm an eager and hardworking person, looking forward to doing my best to constantly improve myself.

Want to know more? Be sure to talk to me if you have any questions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'll be visiting Ohio on February as part of a cultural exchange program before it begins I would like to explore Columbus and meet new people since this will be my first time in the USA.

Music, Movies, and Books

The rock genre has been my favorite for a long time, today I've opened up to new styles such as electronic, indie and pop-rock.

If I had to choose to list some of my favourites they would be these ones: Cavetown, Guns N' Roses, Elton John, The Beatles and tons of Final fantasy orchestra.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My life has always been very ordinary, the best thing I ever did was probably adopting about 7 stray black cats when I was a teenager. I was walking on my way home at night when I heard a faint meowing, I could barely see but next to the sidewalk there a mom cat desperately crying for help, she had been hurt so could not move properly and her children were all separate wandering about the streets trying to find food or water. I gathered each of them and put inside a small box I found nearby, my mom helped me to nurse the momma cat back to health and all her children survived. We ended up adopting the momma cat and named her Nix, she had food and a loving family but ended up running away from home on a random day.

Today I'm a volunteer at the local police station helping the Sherrif on cases against female violence.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been an English teacher for a brief period of time (4 months), my students were mostly poor kids with a burning desire to do something good with their lives. At school, I was taught that knowledge was mostly an utilitarian tool used to get a job and make some money, as time went by I learned that knowledge Is what truly frees us, answers burnings questions and helps achieve true control of our lives. Self-developing, sharing, learning and pursuing happiness don't have to be an end goal, sometimes the human process can simply just be.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I grew up in a very poor region of Brazil, so I never really many opportunities to travel and have adventures, especially as a kid, so I mostly focused on studying and figuring out what I truly want to do out of life. This trip is going to be the most exciting adventure I ever had in my life, I'll finally be able to practice the language I've been studying since I was 4 years old. If anything, just being able to speak English in the US will be a joyride for myself, I hope my hosts can feel my excitement, especially since I may or not become a chatterbox after the initial formal phase dissolves.
