About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore Asia while I live here.

ABOUT ME

My name is Nevaire. I live in Hong Kong with my husband and hope to be here for several years. I love hiking, reading, writing, and cooking. I am always searching for the holy grail of hole-in-the-walls: dirty, dank and filled with dark draft beers.

PHILOSOPHY

"You live and you learn; at any rate, you live."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been a host and a surfer. I love both. I hope to host again soon and get to know fellow CSers in Hong Kong.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing in France made my trip incredible. The hosts I stayed with were friendly, open, and very gracious. I felt like I really got to know each city, not just the places tourists like to visit.

I took two Englishmen to Lady Bird Lake to kayak. We had a great time swimming and paddling around, and they got to experience Texas sun! (They got a bit burned...)

While traveling in China, I met up with some CSers and we had a great time running around the country.

Interests

Crafting, creating. Reading, writing. Sustainable waste management systems, compost and vermiculture. Hiking, camping.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jane Eyre, John Mayer, Otis Redding, Igby Goes Down, Death at a Funeral (UK version), Jazz, Blues, Soul, historical novels. White Teeth, Pakistani fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in the Mediterranean. Hands down some of the most fun I've had. It helped that I was with some amazing people, including my sister.

Climbing the Great Wall- it wasn't what I was expecting, and it was great! Night food in Shanghai and mastering the art of eating with chopsticks.

Hiking the Smokies in North Carolina. I love the little part of the US I call home.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk at length about gardening and sustainable practices. Want to know about composting? Let's talk! Want to know what the heck vermicomposting is? You're in luck, I had a worm bin.

I like to knit/crochet. Embroidery is a passion of mine.

I LOVE teaching people how to cook or learning a new technique from them.
