I’m a thinker and a problem solver, what some might call nerdy, with a penchant for math and a hobby of computer programming. However I also enjoy being active outdoors—hiking, snowshoeing, volleyball, kayaking—as well as playing card games, riding motorcycles, and dancing the night away.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In college my 3-person team won the COMAP mathematical contest in modeling, prevailing over hundreds of teams from around the world. We had 4 days to come up with, solve, and write a paper describing our model to predict the energy consequences of the cellphone revolution. With a flurry of research, differential equations, graphing and writing, we were able to fit our model to historical data with high accuracy. I was invited to the Mathematical Association of America conference MathFest, where I gave a presentation explaining our model and how it projects that the rising prevalence of cellphones will actually save energy in the long run.
