ABOUT ME

On a good day I'll bare my heart and laugh at it all.

I do my best to live deliberately, knowing that Life can strike at any moment to hold me or send me on my way.

Union with the Divine, art, philosophy and martial arts compel me. I do my best to be compassionate and patient and prefer to see the good in people. That being said I am also very intuitive about the true intentions of others. I am awed by nature every time I take a moment to see it. I believe in living consciously, being self aware and keeping the ego in check. I do not allow all my attention to be absorbed by the abstract constructs of modern society. I try to see things for what they are but I am an incurable optimist.

In November of 2009 I took an open ended trip that ended up taking a year before it brought me back to San Diego.

I worked in youth development for the Boys & Girls Clubs for 10 years and eventually ran a teen center.

I have been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA fairly consistently since 2002 and started competing in pro MMA in 2006. People tend to be very surprised that I have fought full contact because of my demeanor. I have great love for any opponent who would give me the opportunity to express my self in such a free way. The way I see it, we both offer the risk of injury as a sacrifice for that opportunity.

I am vegetarian.

I am also a goof-ball, a sap, and sometimes I hide from everything.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is an ocean, not a staircase...
The rudder of reason steers you to nowhere without the full sails of passion.

I believe that all Religions share a common Essence. That Essence is more or less dormant in every human being and it has been fully realized by very few throughout history; Krishna, Jesus and Buddha being the strongest examples. They translated what we in turn interpret. Results vary. Mysticism is seeking that realization directly. That is my anchor in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing to keep this wonderful avenue open to connect with people in a meaningful way. While the exchange of hospitality is the medium of Cs, I see the true substance and spirit of CS to be the authentic exchange of who we are as human beings. I am a different person because of CS. I am a different person after every guest, host, friend.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to art, I can appreciate it regardless of genre as longs as it upholds 2 things within it's own realm: CONSISTENCY and AUTHENTICITY.

Some of my favorite movies: Braveheart, forrest gump, Anchor man, What dreams may come, the crow, old school, forgetting Sarah Marshall, the Last Samurai, Fight Club, Enter the Dragon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once upon a time I quit life, traveled through Asia and drove a motorcycle 1700km through India and the Himalayas and then met my Enlightened Guru after a "chance" encounter on a train in Eastern Europe. Is this real life?!
