About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Continue feeding my wanderlust through any means necessary.

ABOUT ME

I'm a writer and an explorer. I don't get paid for either, but I feel I am more accurately defined by how I spend my time rather than how I earn my money.

I coined the term 'Ooh! Moments' which is when you're walking around and you see something neat and go "Ooh!" and suddenly detour to explore whatever it is that caught your eye. It has become my philosophy of travel, especially for my Walkabout Adventure.

PHILOSOPHY

Have 'Ooh! Moments'. When you're walking down the road and you see a trail in the woods, let yourself be carried down the trail by curiosity, forgetting about your destination for a while. By doing that, you will always be doing exactly what you want at that time and you will die without regret.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, my occupation prevents me from hosting. Driving trucks limits my home time. If I find myself in a strange place for an extended period while waiting for my next load, I'll shout at the local CSers and see what's up. Otherwise, I'm pretty detached from the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, couch surfing has been amazing. I've met some very interesting people and had nothing but positive experiences with them. Each place is different and each new friend enriches my travel experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Fight Club, Boondock Saints, The Crow, Stardust, Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, any zombie movie, Serenity-Firefly, and about 500 more movies that I don't have room to list.

Music: I focus on 90's Alternative (Candlebox, Soul Asylym, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, etc) but also listen to Beastie Boys, Ryan Bingham, Johnny Cash, old Metallica, Disturbed, a few Michael Jackson songs, and Beethoven

Books: The Nightside series, On The Road, The Road, Something Wicked This Way Comes, American Gods, Neverwhere, Oh The Places You'll Go (Dr Seuss), and a bunch more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had a massive 'Ooh! Moment' when I was in Alabama. I was heading to North Carolina when suddenly I got the urge to see Providence, Rhode Island. I took a massive detour and hitched to Rhode Island and it was great.

Teach, Learn, Share

Best Buy is the easiest place to get onto couchsurfing if you don't have a laptop with you. You can spot the signs from a mile off and they have longer hours than the library.
