About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Finishing up med school
ABOUT ME
I'm a New Yorker who's about to move to Boston to start school again (who's originally from Shanghai). So, right now I am straddling NYC and Boston, trying to settle things down!!
I enjoy silly word plays, hence my username NewBostonian. I thought BosYorker is kind of weird on the tongue. I'm very easy going, and love to laugh (I have a very hyperactive laugh gene). Sarcasm is my left hand but I know my limits. Laughter is the best medicine, even for a second.
I like seeing and meeting new people (one of the reasons why I decided to go for med school). I love crowds but I'd never give up solidarity either.
Oh, I'm a Libra. If you want to know anything else, drop me an msg.
PHILOSOPHY
Some people can pursue their dream, but there's nothing wrong with settling for something practical.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Got Couch? I would love to host when I finally get my own place (fingers crossed) in Boston, which is where I'll be moving to in a couple of months.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Done it once. Was a little nervous about it, but it turned out to be a fantastic experience!!
Interests
Karaoke, ok, I'm not the greatest singer, but it's just so much fun!!!!!! Graphic art, photography, piano, music in general, video game (here's where the bias comes in, but Japanese RPGs rule!), cooking (only Chinese food), tennis, swimming, volleyball.

Music, Movies, and Books
True Lies and any other Action/Comedy/Slapstick combo, namely many of the Jackie Chan movies!!
Anything goes, classical (Schubert is my favorite right now), New-Age electronica, pop, R&B, hip-hop.
Sci-fi, Fantasy, but lately medical documentary (though the side-effect is that I now wash my hands every 10 seconds).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sterilizing a pair of scissors on the stove, and disinfected my dad's temple before removing the stitches for him. I didn't perform open brain surgery, but it was pretty neat.
I saw an angiogram of a pumping heart, although it looked like Aliens... but man oh man. (You might've guessed it; it wasn't a healthy heart. There was defective tissues and blockages.. Yikes.)
And I'm hopeful about the future.
Teach, Learn, Share
I need to learn how to serve properly in tennis!! Also, how to turn in water (at the end of the lane, as I always end up kicking the swimmer next lane).
I also teach science... big surprise there.
