About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Continual self-renewal, teaching people to love themselves and re-balance their lives

ABOUT ME

I am an internet savvy, confident entrepreneur. I love getting to know people over the internet and in person and know there are a lot of great people out there. My husband and I find the concept of CouchSurfing to be so amazing and want to support it by surfing and sometimes hosting, too!

I have been a pro photographer for about a decade, you can check out some of my work at www.admirestudios.com and my Time Management company at www.lrconsulting.ca

My husband Paul is an Occupational Therapist in Edmonton. We are both travel nuts and believe that travel is better with people in it, which makes CS the ideal place for us!

PHILOSOPHY

Never get so busy living that you never really lived at all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I finally have my own place to host, and my awesome husband is down with it! We love to stay with CS folks when we travel, it enriches the experience and allows us to afford to travel when a hotel stay would be really expensive.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first went CouchSurfing in 2006 to Halifax, Nova Scotia with GreenEyes! Her place was amazing, and her family was so helpful! CouchSurfing is the best thing since sliced bread, and I intend to do it as often as I can. I've also informally couchsurfed in Victoria, B.C. and Moncton, N.B. with friends and friends of friends and in New York. It's really enabled me to see a great deal of North America!

Music, Movies, and Books

All Kinds of movies, except horror. Especially feel-good movies (Shawshank Redemption), movies with awesome plots and acting (The Pianist), and modern fairy tales (Big Fish, Lady in the Water)

I'm also a pretty big TV fan. I love Limitless, Chuck, Scrubs...

Books in nearly every genre, especially historical fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, classics. This includes series like Lord of the Rings, Series of Unfortunate Events, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and many, many more. We are huge fans of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.

In my young life I was a classical singer, so I love a lot of classical music. I also love classic rock, some pop, punk, and most especially jazz and Broadway. I have a huge music collection, and my husband likes more indie music, so we have a lot of different tastes!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen musicians that were so good they put tears in your eyes. Not one musician, but dozens. Experiences like that make a person rich without money. Places, art, and architecture too, are enriching and a huge part of my beauty collection. I collect beauty in places and photographs and people and music tracks and potted plants and more. I want to keep collecting forever.

Teach, Learn, Share

It’s not okay to settle for less or be sloppy because you’re living like there’s no tomorrow. The problem with that scenario is simple. There’s usually a tomorrow.

To live more unselfishly, ask yourself how you will be remembered. It might be that the best reason to seize the day is to give it to someone else.

Whatever “it” is, it’s never that simple. Whoever said, “It’s as simple as that!” is trying to skip all the important points.
