ABOUT ME

Grew up in the woods of Vermont, so I'm not what you would call refined. Have traveled quite a bit, including a couple months backpacking around Europe and a bunch of trips around Asia during my three years teaching near Bangkok, Thailand. I have an open mind and I like to learn as much as I can from others. I like to joke around a lot and am very lighthearted. Used to party quite a bit, but now haven't had a drink since May 2009 and tend to be more interested in lively discourse around something substantive. I'm able to enjoy pretty much any situation that I may find myself in.

PHILOSOPHY

The world is what it is because it was how it was. We are designers of reality, so let's try to make it reflective of our shared humanity.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Slept on a couch for a whole winter in Vail, and I made a bunch of couchsurfing friends when traveling around Europe back in 2005. Later I hosted a couple people up in Vermont where we went snowboarding/skiing together. One person I hosted later went trekking in Nepal with me a few years later, which was super cool.

Hiked up a pretty dangerous mountain in Innsbruck and at the top was the most amazing view of the Alps surrounding me on all sides. See profile pic. We would have been stuck finding our way back down in the dark except we were saved by a random crew from Where in the World is Matt Lauer that had special access to a normally closed gondola.
